Each person deserves to be treated as a unique individual and two strengths I have toward that goal are patience and the ability to listen fully. I work to identify specific issues which can be addressed by techniques from schools of thought such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Did you know the number one factor in clients feeling better is based on their relationship with their therapist? I encourage you to be picky in the journey to find the right therapist for you. Let's get you started on the journey to finding the right fit and feeling better. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help shift negative thought patterns and develop healthy coping skills. I also work through a trauma-focused lens to help you make sense of how past experiences shape your present and help heal the past so you can navigate your future.

As a Mental Health Therapist, I embarked on my journey of self-development in 2014, catalyzed by a life-altering panic attack during a traumatic event. Initially feeling isolated in my struggles, I sought help and immersed myself in various modalities aimed at nurturing my soul back to health. Through years of introspection and growth, I came to appreciate the profound significance of therapy as a safe haven, cultivating self-awareness, and harnessing the transformative potential of cognitive techniques. That's when I made the choice to transition from my role as an engineer to become a therapist.

Many believe that my main responsibility as a clinical psychologist is to find what is “wrong” with people. While diagnosing is an important part of treatment it is far from the most important part. We will explore who you are, where you’ve been, and where you’d like to go. I treat every person like the unique individual they are. My strength-based approach focuses on what’s RIGHT with you and how we are going to leverage that to create the life you so desire. So, let’s get started.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
