I have been here before. Feeling exhausted with life. Out of balance, disconnected, foggy. It does not feel good. Waiting, wondering when life will magically get better. What if I told you the magic already lives inside of you. What if you are able to change the way you feel about yourself, your situation. What if creating the life that you are here to live is already yours for the taking. This feeling right now, let's call it misalignment. Let me help you find your way back, so you can actually feel alive again.

As an associate therapist, I work with adults and young people experiencing complex trauma, PTSD/PTSI, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I'm passionate about guiding people through trauma processing by creating space for healing that leads to a more peaceful and fulfilling life. My own life experiences have provided a deep understanding of what it means to face hard things, and I bring this empathy into every therapy session. I earned a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix, and am dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's most difficult moments.

Anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and the weight of past experiences don't just cause pain - they shape how you see yourself and how you show up with the people you love. If you've found yourself caught in the same patterns, wondering why things feel harder than they should, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply, psychodynamic therapy offers something most approaches don't: the chance to get at what's actually driving the difficulty, not just manage it. I work with adults, teens, and children in Encinitas and Vista, and I'm currently accepting new patients.

We all have a story to tell. Our lives are full of hopes and dreams, fears and struggles. No matter if the client in front of me is a twenty year old struggling with their gender or sexual identity, a couple in their 40's experiencing mismatched desire, or a 60 year old with sexual dysfunction concerns, we all need someone to listen and support us. I consider myself to be an empathetic therapist. I want to support my client as best as I can. I also know that it isn't easy to go to therapy and I want to be someone who starts with where the client is at, but also know that I can be direct at times if needed, and softer at other times.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who has a warm and compassionate approach to therapy, which encourages active collaboration. I have a passion for walking alongside others in the midst of struggle. When you come to therapy, it’s like you are trying to climb a mountain; I am not at the top of your mountain but, rather, on another mountain, offering a different perspective, pointing out potential dangers, and helping you find the most effective path along your journey.

Are you the one holding everything together for your medically complex child - while quietly carrying more than most people ever see? Many come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in survival mode after years of caregiving and advocacy. They may struggle with burnout, medical trauma, relationship stress, guilt, or feeling isolated from others who do not understand their experience. I provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to help clients process difficult emotions, strengthen coping skills, improve relationships, and reconnect with themselves beyond caregiving.

Working through difficult experiences and emotions can be challenging. It can be even harder to make desired changes in ones life when certain patterns have been established for so long. I work hard to ensure that my clients feel safe and supported throughout this process. By creating a comfortable and lighthearted environment, individuals, families, and couples are able to gain some reprieve from the difficulties they are experiencing. This allows change to begin to occur in the lives of my clients.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
