Do you feel like a misunderstood weirdo, even though you might look normal? I’ve got your back. Feel cramped by societal expectations and want to find the freedom and empowerment to be fully yourself? Step into my (virtual) office. I want to work with you if you are on the precipice of change, or in the throes of shedding the skin of your former self. I want to work with you if, somewhere in there, you suspect that these times are the ones that hone our edges, define who we are and are not, and allow us to emerge from the ashes more empowered, brighter, stronger, and more fully in ownership of our truth.

Searching for a therapist can feel intimidating. You are not alone- whether you are looking for relief from emotional pain, help for your child, or healing from an eating disorder. Perhaps you are seeking healing from trauma that inhibits your daily life, or you are on a journey of self-discovery to find your authentic self. Whatever it is that you’re seeking, you do not have to go through it alone.

Living with a chronic health condition is rarely just a physical experience. There is the uncertainty, the endless appointments, the quiet grief over the version of yourself you thought you'd be by now. The anxiety that lives just beneath the surface, tied to your health or to a life that feels like it shifted without your permission. You have tried to stay positive. You have kept going. But you don't have to keep doing it alone.

I work with individuals and couples struggling to adjust to the many changes that come along with life changes, relationship issues or transitions, traumas, communication, intimacy issues, and parenting. Big life changes can be a silent struggle and learning to trust yourself again is vital. It can be difficult holding onto who you are while navigating new pressures, expectations, and painful experiences.

I am delighted you are here! My practice was born through my own journey walking the evolutionary path. I have come to know this path as holding duality and paradox, which can only be known through coming down into the body to be felt and sensed rather than understood. I have come to know it as a journey of healing and reclamation, death and rebirth, stillness and movement, feeling deeply and wholly, tenderness and mystifying strength, seeking and trusting, and unlearning, forgetting, and then remembering again.

I imagine you're here because you want a new approach to therapy. Often times individuals have done therapy once or twice and, finding it helpful, they feel ready to take the reins of their mental health once more. When clients come to me, they are often at a point where they want a deeper approach to their work, one that doesn't just talk about the issues, but goes into the issues for real and true relief, leading to the freedom from emotions that they truly need. My core intention is to help others find within themselves meaning, resilience, and personal freedom.

EMDR is one of the most effective methods to stimulate the brain and body’s natural ability towards healing. EMDR is an evidence-based modality that uses eye movement, tapping, or sound to help the brain heal from difficult life experiences. EMDR can help with the treatment of PTSD, trauma, depression, and anxiety. This therapy is rewarding, and it could bring strength to situations that may have seemed hopeless.

So many women arrive at therapy feeling like they've lost themselves. New moms blindsided by the emotional weight of postpartum anxiety or depression. Women in the thick of a life transition who feel unsteady and unsure of who they are anymore. Teens quietly struggling under pressure no one around them fully sees. Whatever brought you here, you don't have to keep navigating it on your own. I work with women, moms, and teens around maternal mental health, postpartum anxiety and depression, life transitions, and anxiety, using a mindfulness and nature inspired approach to help you reconnect with your own strength.

FAQ - Menopause Counseling
How can menopause affect mental health?
Menopause can bring physical and emotional changes that may affect mental health. Shifts in hormone levels can contribute to mood changes, irritability, anxiety, sleep disruption, and changes in energy or concentration. For some people, menopause may also worsen existing mental health concerns, such as depression or anxiety. Menopause may also happen during a period of other life stress, such as caring for children or aging parents, navigating relationship changes, or managing a demanding career. These stressors, combined with symptoms like poor sleep, hot flashes, and fatigue, can make it harder to cope emotionally.

How can therapy help with menopause symptoms?
Therapy can provide a space to process the emotions that may come with menopause and midlife more broadly. A therapist can help you identify patterns in mood, stress, or sleep, and may suggest tracking thoughts or symptoms to better understand what is contributing to emotional challenges. Therapy can also help with the impact menopause may have on relationships, work, or daily life. For example, a therapist may help you navigate how irritability, fatigue, or low mood is affecting communication with a partner, family member, or colleagues. They may also encourage strategies that generally support good mental health, such as physical exercise, stress management, and good sleep.

What is menopause-informed therapy?
Menopause-informed therapy means that a therapist understands how menopause can affect mental and physical health. It is not a specific type of therapy like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, nor does it necessarily indicate a therapist who has a specific certification or level of quality. The most important factor is finding a therapist who is comfortable discussing menopause and its possible impact on mental health. Some therapists may describe themselves as menopause-informed, while others may have relevant experience even if they do not use that exact phrase. During an initial consultation, it can be very helpful to ask whether a prospective therapist has worked with clients navigating menopause and midlife transitions.

Should I see a therapist instead of or alongside a doctor for menopause?
Therapists and doctors have different roles, so whether you see one or both depends on your symptoms and goals. A therapist can help with the emotional, cognitive, and relational effects of menopause. A doctor, by contrast, can assess and treat physical symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, or bone health concerns. If both emotional and physical symptoms are affecting you, it may be helpful to see both a therapist and a doctor. Support in one area may also make the other easier to manage. For example, medical treatment, including hormone therapy when appropriate, may help improve symptoms like sleep disruption or hot flashes, which can in turn support mood and emotional wellbeing.
