Hey there! My name is Becca, and I work virtually with adults in the state of CA. As a clinician, I utilize a warm, empowering, and compassionate approach. Being human is not easy, and I think most folks in the U.S. are not taught how to care for their physical wellbeing, let alone their mental health. I believe therapy can be useful regardless of what you are navigating, even if it serves as a space to take time for you on a regular basis. In therapy, I utilize evidence-based practice and an integrative approach that includes relational cultural theory, self compassion focused therapy, with CBT, DBT, and ERP.

My style consists of a broad range of approaches including dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy.
Not every problem can be handled on our own. In these times, it's important to seek the aid of those who have an extensive understanding of overwhelming stress, depression, and anxiety. As a LCSW and psychotherapist, I know healing is possible and happens everyday. I have a passion for mental health and enjoy watching people become the best version of themselves.

I am trained in and draw from CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, and EMDR.
Therapy is a highly individualized process: it can be about bringing awareness to challenges you're experiencing and giving you the skills and insight you need to change how you interact with them and it can also be about reprocessing distressing events so as to be able to move past them. Therapy can be beneficial for those experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, behavioral disturbances, trauma-related distress, panic attacks, and/or relationship difficulties. In therapy we can work collaboratively to uncover, identify, and adapt patterns to reduce these struggles.

I practice several statistically effective therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
Are you feeling stuck or unmotivated? Do you feel like there is something blocking you from moving forward in life? My hope in therapy is to empower people. Whether that is to empower them to find new solutions to old problems, a better way of managing their anxiety or depression; or a whole new way of being in relationships. We all need to feel empowered in our own lives but often find road blocks that keep us from reaching our potential.

I use evidence based approaches (EFT, DBT, CBT, ACT, and Psychodynamic) from a relational, developmental, and attachment-based perspective.
I believe symptoms are often the body’s way of communicating with us. Learning to recognize our symptoms as messages to listen to, we start making sense of the chaos, and feel less out of control. I’m committed to helping you get that kind of relief and clarity, so that it becomes easier to explore the roots of what gets you stuck. The therapy I offer is experiential and relational, providing the context to name what needs to heal, process what's overwhelming, build psychological skills and confidence, grow in compassion, strengthen relationships, and find a path forward with greater freedom, meaning, and hope.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
