I have over 15 years of experience providing psychotherapy to people facing a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, life transitions, stress, and chronic pain.
Therapy can be a tool in your journey to a more vital life. We all get stuck with problematic feelings and thoughts, and that's where I come in. I provide therapy to adults struggling with their thoughts, emotions, health, or who are stuck in patterns that are unhelpful. I create a warm and inviting space for exploration and personal growth and use evidence-based tools to help create the context for change. I also provide psychological evaluations to clients across the lifespan.

I believe that everyone deserves a space without judgement to explore who they are, how they got here and where they want to go. My goal as a therapist is to provide support while helping clients figure out what isn’t working for them in their life or relationships and then work as a team to make changes.

Many of my clients describe living what feels like a double life—"holding it all together" while carrying fear, shame, or worry that everything will fall apart if they stop controlling everything.
I use a relational, existential approach to help you understand the roots of your patterns, feel safer to explore them, and create meaning in your life. Together we explore the fears, emotions, and beliefs shaping your relationships. I also integrate EMDR to reprocess past experiences tied to self-worth, anxiety, and perfectionism.

Therapy is a tool that helps when feeling stuck or overwhelmed, whether those feelings are created from underlying anxiety, depression, trauma, loss/grief, relationship issues, stress, or issues with self-esteem.
I provide a safe space to develop an understanding of how stressors impact the mind and body, and I teach techniques that have been empirically validated to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression and release trauma from the body. Whatever you have lived through--healing is possible. I provide therapy for people living outside of the mainstream, whether because of values and ideals or personal identity. Therapy with me doesn't require that you or I believe there is anything wrong with you. Instead it is a place where we work collaboratively and creatively to develop an environment where you can take more and more risks to be yourself. It is a place to keep growing. It is a place to get real about what matters to you and what challenges you. Keywords: radical, queer, therapy for therapists, artists, activists, social justice.

Did you grow up with a critical, emotionally immature, or narcissistic parent? Maybe you're the outsider, black sheep, or scapegoat in your family. You may have been blamed for things that weren’t your fault, excluded, disowned, or gossiped about behind your back. And when you tried to speak up, you were met with gaslighting, denial, or more blame. Your healthy anger may have been twisted into “proof” that you were the problem. And around and around it goes. But there is a way out. You don’t have to stay trapped in painful family patterns.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
