Hi, I’m Sharai. I work with couples and families who feel stuck—talking in circles, walking on eggshells, or drifting apart. They want to feel close again, to communicate without shutting down or blowing up, and to know their relationships can actually feel good. My clients are often caring deeply but struggling to connect. If that sounds like you, I want you to know there’s hope—and a way forward. Together, we can slow things down, understand the cycle you're caught in, and start building something more secure and connected.

If there is one thing we know for sure, it is that change is inevitable. Whether it be the loss of a loved one, a significant life transition, or starting/ending a relationship, change is a constant and consistent part of our lives. Yet, it is also something that many of us find scary and we may resist it, even when that change is ultimately in our best interest. Life is full of these forks in the road and many of us may benefit from having someone who can guide us through the often confusing and difficult challenges life can present.

I work with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, trauma, stress, and substance use. Many clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that are impacting their emotions, relationships, or daily functioning, and are looking for a way to better understand and shift these experiences. My approach is supportive and collaborative, with an emphasis on exploring the underlying patterns that contribute to current difficulties. This often includes examining how thoughts, emotions, and relational dynamics interact over time.

Every human being deserves the space to be seen, heard, and understood. For many of us, the traumas, heartaches and loss we have endured have been experienced in isolation; we have believed that we must carry these burdens alone. But, we are not designed to simply be individuals, we are designed to connect and heal through connection with others. In the presence of an empathetic and attuned witness, where we are no longer alone in our pain, we are often able to let go of what no longer serves us and allow the process of transformation to take place.

Each of us are tasked with facing the unique challenges of our individualized experiences, and, as a therapist, I find it rewarding to support people in exploring how the context of their lives has helped to shape their identity and led them to experience the world as they have. It is through this process of self-discovery and emotional awareness that we can build confidence, efficacy and the necessary skills to lead a life of empowerment and intentionality.

Just being human can be hard, and with all that is expected of us in this life, it can seem almost impossible at times. The external world can feel overwhelming and unsafe and our internal world can feel chaotic and just as unsafe. At the heart of any therapeutic approach is the attempt to find peace within so we can learn to be at peace with what is beyond our control. At Balanced Life Therapy Center, our clinicians are trained, each in their own preferred approach to healing, to support the inner world of their clients and help them get connected to the power they hold to move towards the life they desire.

Hi, I'm Trini (she/her/ella), a queer and neurodiverse therapist who creates space for healing through authenticity, connection, and care. Our mental health is shaped by more than just personal struggles—identity, trauma, and systems matter, and I honor that in my work. I’m especially passionate about supporting first-generation, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent individuals who often feel unseen, misunderstood, or marginalized in traditional spaces.

Do you struggle with having a sense of self that affects your relationships, career, and your day to day life? Do you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, stuck, or frustrated by trying to please others or dealing with your own inner battles? Do you wonder what life could look like if you had a fresh start with options that currently feel out of reach? Now more than ever, women and those who identify with the Christian faith are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and uncertain about who they are in a culture overloaded with information and high expectations.

Hi, I'm Katherine, a licensed therapist in Oakland who works with anxious perfectionists. Your inner critic nitpicks every interaction, leaving you exhausted from another full day of “Should’ve done that better.” Painful memories nag at you, getting louder despite your efforts to shove them away. Daily invalidations of your queer, Latina, or immigrant identity sting, and loneliness has set in as you keep your suffering to yourself. You’ve tried everything: drinking, doom scrolling, self-help books, but nothing has worked. You're left feeling weighed down and hopeless.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
