I also support clients that may be experiencing early forms of psychosis (like paranoia or hallucinations) and help them decrease those symptoms before they get worse.
There are lots of different ways to do therapy, but I will always make sure that you have both a non-judgmental space to share, and that you walk away with practical skills to help you deal with the ongoing stress. People appreciate that I am authentic and honest in session, and that I'm not afraid to give feedback or reflection that my clients need to hear.

I am a Certified EMDR therapist and Consultant. I am passionate about helping people let go of the pain of the past, live more fully in the present and develop hope for the future. When you've grown up in a abusive, chaotic, or dysfunctional household it can be really hard to move beyond your past without help. This is especially true if you struggle with any kind of dissociation. It's not that you're weak or unwilling, it's that you don't yet have the tools and the help to do so. I can help you with those tools, while holding space for the reality of the culture and systems we find ourselves in that may continue to cause harm.

I specialize in treating individuals with anxiety, OCD, addiction, and psychosis.
Remember the last time that you felt fulfilled. What did it take? Chances are that it was not the result of staying in your comfort zone. Opening up your inner world can feel vulnerable. Doing the work that it takes to reach your goals may not feel comfortable. And that’s the thing. Comfortable does not lead to growth. What can lead to growth is taking on new challenges with the guidance and support of a compassionate and experienced therapist. I strive to provide a therapeutic relationship that my clients may use for their growth, whether that means gaining insight, connecting with others, or managing distressing symptoms.

I've worked in psychiatric hospitals, in prisons and in private practice, with people with all kinds of psychological difficulties including depression, anxiety and Schizophrenia.
Therapy is more than just a helpful process. It can be a life raft in a sea of uncertainty, doubt and/or depression. I believe that people are just trying to do the best they can every day, and that sometimes along the way we can get off course and find ourselves without any signs or direction. I can help you find that direction for yourself.

Dr. Max Doshay believes it is of utmost importance to treat all patients holistically and examine all levels of their functioning. Incorporating a variety of evidence-based assessment methods such as the WAIS V, MMPI 3, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, TAT, Vineland Adaptive Scales, and Bender Visual Spatial Gestalt Test (and more!), Dr. Max and his team can help tailor an individualized treatment plan through Neuropsychological Evaluations that meets the patient’s specific wants and needs instead of applying a “one size fits all” therapeutic technique used by many in the mental health industry.

Perhaps, you have realized, the more you try to ignore the source of these challenges, the worse you feel about yourself and your situation and the more complicated your problems become. And because you are reading this, you know you don’t have to continue this struggle on your own!

You want to make peace with your past and enjoy the life you’ve built for yourself , but deep down you feel “not enough” and find yourself so overwhelmed that you are just going through the motions. You become irritable “for no reason” and your emotions often get the best of you, making you feel like a horrible person and impacting your relationships. Social interactions leave you exhausted from masking your feelings and overanalyzing everything you said or did. You often think to yourself "Is there something wrong with me?" and you have a sense that painful experiences from your past still affect your life today.

Psychosis Therapists
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.
When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.
What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.
How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
