If you're suffering from depression, traumatic memories, anxiety, or OCD, Image Transformation Therapy (ImTT) can restore your effectiveness in the world and the balance in your life.
For behavioral addictions (e.g., sex, gambling, shopping), and substance addictions, ImTT eliminates both the positive fixated memories and the emotional avoidance dynamics that create addictive behaviors. For behavioral addictions, successful treatment means a return to normal, healthy behavior -- i.e., gamblers can gamble, sex addicts have sex, etc.

Remember the last time that you felt fulfilled. What did it take? Chances are that it was not the result of staying in your comfort zone. Opening up your inner world can feel vulnerable. Doing the work that it takes to reach your goals may not feel comfortable. And that’s the thing. Comfortable does not lead to growth. What can lead to growth is taking on new challenges with the guidance and support of a compassionate and experienced therapist. I strive to provide a therapeutic relationship that my clients may use for their growth, whether that means gaining insight, connecting with others, or managing distressing symptoms.

Anxiety and OCD are my specialties but I also have some training in alcohol and substance use issues, as I completed my practicum at Sharp McDonald Center and my associate hours at Bold Health.
The therapeutic relationship can be an invaluable opportunity to foster growth, take intelligent risks, and rewrite unhelpful narratives. Often the most important and difficult changes in life are internal. Moreover, the most critical changes can begin with the acceptance of a painful reality. Sometimes it is helpful to explore these realities with a supportive individual who has some distance from the situation. I find the most successful clients are curious about their own beliefs and feelings. While they want to be challenged, they also believe in the necessity of self-compassion.

Life is full of uncertainty and challenges and sometimes our usual coping, resources, and knowledge are not enough to help manage these situations. We might notice an increase in worry, distress, sadness, grief, or relational conflict that appear to have no resolution. Sometimes we experience abrupt and traumatic situations that leave us feeling unsafe, disoriented, and confused by our emotional and physiological responses. Any of these experiences can be overwhelming, but a supportive therapeutic relationship combined with empirically based treatments can be helpful in managing the situations and finding resolutions.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
