Howdy, I work with adolescents, adults, and families. Life can be challenging at times (especially given the current state of the world) and I understand first-hand what it's like to go through it. Maybe you need a space to process/talk it out or you maybe you just need someone to curse like a sailor with cause life's thrown you a few curveballs? Whatever the circumstances are, I'll work alongside you as we navigate through it all. By the end of it all, my goal is that you exit therapy with a positive experience feeling prepared and ready to tackle life again (and hopefully not have to come back).

My clients are people who may have many of the things society says should create a fulfilling life, yet behind polished exteriors they feel worn down - tired, anxious, or unsure how to break old relationship patterns that keep repeating. They often carry quiet self-doubt, people-pleasing, or a fear of not being enough. They want to feel grounded, understood, and connected in a way that feels safe and real. They come to therapy longing for clarity, steadiness, and healthier relationships, knowing deep down that they’re ready for healing and a more authentic way of being.

When was the last time you felt like someone genuinely heard you? Are your experiences often dismissed because someone else has it worse? Without the proper tools or support, many people learn to deal with their traumas and intergenerational/inherited self-limiting beliefs by seeking out substances and compulsive behaviors. Separated by stigma, trauma and addictive behaviors can make people feel isolated and like they are just going through the motions, living life on autopilot. But you don’t have to walk your path alone.

Do you ever feel like your life is stuck on repeat? Time to rewrite your story. In relationships, what looks like a lot of different issues is usually just one—the same argument over and over. I'm all for recycling—but recycling arguments gets old real fast. Individuals often feel like they’re overthinking everything but still not moving forward. If you’re looking for surface-level therapy, I’m probably not your guy. If you actually want things to change, we’ll start moving the needle together.

Does your child say, “You don’t understand” or completely ignores your requests? Do you feel powerless and frustrated that consequences don’t seem to work anymore on your child? We help to empower your family with new ways of communicating and relating, so harmony is restored. Kids need to feel heard and that what they think matters. Children often feel like no adult is listening, at school or at home. We help to give both children and parents a voice, which often calms the chaos. Children and teenagers need help learning how to express their needs in a way that their parents can hear them.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
