I am dedicated to helping
women
move past the struggles within motherhood.
If you're a parent who is feeling anxious, uncertain about the future, possibly depressed, stressed out, or having a low mood and energy, you are not alone. Balancing the stressors of work, relationships, and physical pains has been challenging. Your life has not been the same since your baby was born. Not every mother's journey is free of challenges. I provide support to
women
that are faced with infertility, loss, grief, birth trauma, parenting NICU babies, medically ill children, or children with special needs, perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, adjusting to motherhood, and partner conflicts after becoming parents.

I've been in private practice since 1987, working with individuals and couples. I work with men and
women
, ages 19 and above, who may be overwhelmed and confused by a life crisis or transition; who may find themselves holding back in their lives, not knowing what they want or afraid to go after it; repeating the same patterns in each of their unsatisfying relationships, leaving them feeling lonely and unseen. I am honored to accompany each client on a journey toward wholeness and peace of mind.
Having traveled extensively, I have a deep appreciation of other cultures and languages.

Unfortunately, it's often not the reality and I am here to support you regardless of where you are in this journey. Imagine how it would feel to be the best version of yourself. To enter motherhood confident, happy, and calm. Together we can get you feeling that way.

Utilizing a genuinely warm, humorous, and direct humanistic approach, I will gently challenge you and invite you to step out of your current comfort zone and step into authentic, mindful living. Throughout our sessions, we will: hold space for difficult thoughts and feelings, highlight underlying patterns of thinking and behaving that may no longer serve you, and imagine new ways of being and doing.

You know there's more to life than the loneliness, frustration, and fatigue you somehow keep coming back to. Despite the many times you've mustered the strength to push through and keep trying, sometimes you feel like true lasting change is hopeless. But something in you keeps calling, drawing you forward in search of the ease, passion, inspiration, and freedom you're longing for.

Psychotherapy is one of the best ways to live an examined life, opening doors to a deeper understanding of yourself and to a new way of being in the world. Mindfully tending to your psychological space, each of our sessions will focus on exploring practical answers to everyday problems, resolving fears and uncertainties, improving your life, and discovering how the psyche responds inwardly to overwhelming life events or when life-shattering events destroy outer meaning altogether. Even unavoidable and unpleasant experiences can be a source of psychological freedom.

As a fat, queer, neurodivergent disruptor of societal norms and systems, I hold a strength-based attachment focused framework that values and celebrates all genders, sexualities, bodies, ethnicities, cultures, abilities, family structures, religions, and socio-economic locations. I see these intersectionalities as a beautiful tapestry of personal empowerments which can become the foundation from which we work collectively to identify, address and dismantle systems of oppression. I believe humans shouldn’t be pathologized in a society designed to keep people sick and stuck.

Therapy is a collaborative process that can help you live a full and authentic life. While some people think of treatment as a way to address acute and uncomfortable symptoms, it can also be a tool for personal development. Most humans engage in repetitive and self-defeating behaviors that interfere with emotional freedom and growth. My goal as your collaborator and guide is to help you identify those cycles and explore new ways of being in the world to achieve a joyful and fulfilling life.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
