Please give me a call and we can talk to see how I can be of help to you or your family .
Does your son or daughter seem unhappy, worried or frightened? Do they frequently get into trouble at school? Has there been a shift in their behavior that concerns you? Do they have difficulty making or maintaining friendships? Do they act mean, have angry outbursts or act aggressively because they cannot control their actions? Are they restless or have difficulty concentrating? These are just some of the problems I assist children, adolescents and their families in overcoming. Call me and we can talk further. I also work with adults with anxiety, parenting challenges, or who have struggled with trauma.

As a fat, queer, neurodivergent disruptor of societal norms and systems, I hold a strength-based attachment focused framework that values and celebrates all genders, sexualities, bodies, ethnicities, cultures, abilities, family structures, religions, and socio-economic locations. I see these intersectionalities as a beautiful tapestry of personal empowerments which can become the foundation from which we work collectively to identify, address and dismantle systems of oppression. I believe humans shouldn’t be pathologized in a society designed to keep people sick and stuck.

What you want is equanimity, and the way to get there is by turning your focus inward, and embodying the courageous leader of your own internal family of mind parts.
Are you tired of struggling with your mental wellness on your own? We all have ups and downs in our lives. But wouldn't it be great to feel a reassuring undercurrent of serenity and resilience, no matter what is happening in your outer world?

Over the last two decades my clientele has changed along with my experience, skill acquisition and personal life. First as a clinician, then business owner, family man and student of life and living, I have been fortunate to have a career that reflects my own life. Peek moments, so many blessings, long trials and struggles and big losses have rounded the edges of once sharp ideals and brought a humble gratitude for the souls I've met in my office. While I have a solid grasp of several powerful treatment modalities, my goal first is to be a good human to those who seek me out.

In addition to being a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist , I have a master's degree in Psychology and a doctorate in Naturopathy for Health Care Professionals.
I enjoy working with clients who are experiencing roadblocks on their path to a more fulfilled life. Barriers to wellness are not limited to the mental realm and may include physical issues, sexual issues, relationship issues and spiritual issues. These issues interrelate and thus must all be addressed holistically. The symptom is not the cause and is often key in figuring out where the problem resides. I believe in the power of the human beings to heal themselves. I see my role as helping identify solutions and offering tools for personal growth and healing. I seek to empower my clients as they heal, grow and develop resilience.

In this moment you feel lost, disconnected from your path/career, and unsure how to find self-fulfillment, while feeling the weight and intense expectations of others. You know you need help and don't know where to turn. Explaining how lost you feel to others around you, will make you more vulnerable than you wish to feel. You feel alone and know that something has to change. The stress of school and/or work is insurmountable, sharing these feelings with friends and family is not possible. Your stress causes intense pressure and anxiety which is affecting every aspect of your life.

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a volunteer for several non-profit organizations, I was able to expand upon my skills and knowledge in working with individuals impacted by collective traumatic events, addiction, dual-diagnosed clients, violence, and loss.
I have worked in the Mental Health field for nearly nine years, and I have a deep passion and appreciation for the well-being of individuals and families dealing with various challenges that have negatively impacted their quality of life. In my prior experience as an MFT intern, I worked at several schools as a school-based counselor. The outcome of this experience enhanced my therapeutic skills to address antisocial behaviors, child abuse and neglect, and traumatic experiences in children and adolescents.

Many of my clients struggle with relationships, life transitions, feelings of isolation, school demands, perfectionism, career decisions, parenting, body image, depression, anxiety, family issues, trauma, sexual orientation, and suicidal ideation.
I believe that each one of us has a genuine need to feel valued and connected. I also believe that connection is the foundation in our lives. We all need to find our purpose and find a place where we can belong to something bigger than ourselves. Sometimes our inability to connect with others can leave us feeling empty, hopeless or insecure. It can cause us to isolate, tolerate unhealthy relationships, abuse substances or lose our direction. When we learn to build healthy connections and find our purpose, we are more likely to experience hope and fulfillment. I am a licensed clinical social worker with 30+ years of experience.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
