My experience in mental health has allowed me to assist clients struggling with depression, anxiety, impulsivity, substance use, and self esteem issues in group and/ or individual therapy.
COVID-19 and quarantine has changed the world, the way we navigate challenges and brought forth our need for connection.I am passionate about helping clients learn new skills to deal with the changes that come in life and rediscover their ability to create solutions to fit their world. I enjoy collaborating with clients to foster self awareness and empower them in their journey. I assist clients in reevaluating and refocusing to be more present. I work with clients to identify triggers as well as establish healthy habits to take care of themselves and their families.

Starting therapy can often bring up many feelings; and taking those first steps to find a good fit between you and your therapist is an important part of the process. We will work together to create a relationship that feels safe enough to address your concerns. In addition to my private psychotherapy practice I have provided trauma informed therapy to individuals and families in various community based, non-profit agencies, in addition to Clinical Supervision.

Life can be challenging at times. However, I believe that people have an amazing ability to heal and transform negative patterns that are no longer serving them, as well as develop more meaningful ways to approach life's hurdles. We can often get stuck during difficult moments, and outside support can be helpful during these times. As my client, I will support and encourage you to identify the solutions that are best for your life. I understand that deciding to reach out for help can be intimidating. My treatment approach will respect and honor your individual process.

During the past 30 years of working as a psychotherapist, I have helped people with anxiety, depression, loss, relationship and work issues, and often just a general sense that something isn't right. As a Jungian and relational therapist, I am empathic, nonjudgemental, nonpatholgizing, and deeply interested in the uniqueness of each human being who comes to me. Warm and down-to-earth, I enjoy exploring deeper levels of experience but can be practical and provide suggestions and tools when that is what is needed.

You know there's more to life than the loneliness, frustration, and fatigue you somehow keep coming back to. Despite the many times you've mustered the strength to push through and keep trying, sometimes you feel like true lasting change is hopeless. But something in you keeps calling, drawing you forward in search of the ease, passion, inspiration, and freedom you're longing for.

A favorite quote of mine is, "The truth always happens." Too often, our present truth is filled with suffering and anxiety. But we can shape our truth, to better cope with disorder or overcome pain and trauma. The therapeutic process provides insight into behaviors and actions that allows for growth in self and relationships. I specialize in working with children, adolescents and adults of all backgrounds, helping clients and families to understand a range of behaviors and disorders. Working together, clients learn to recognize feelings, relate them to behaviors, and develop tools to recreate their own truth.

I work with adolescents and young adults. I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults who are having a particularly difficult time with major life transitions. I also work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, difficulties with relationships and individuals who are struggling with a particularly difficult period or event in their lives. Regardless of what I am helping with, my treatment begins and ends with the therapeutic relationship. People want to be understood. Everyone wants to feel good yet each day our moods change as life’s circumstances intrude. Many times, the trauma we have experienced or our negative self-talk work to prevent us from good decisions. You may be considering counseling because you want to change something about yourself. For most people this kind of change can be hard work. To change yourself, it is helpful to understand how your thoughts, emotions and actions all interact to make up who you are. Real, lasting change is the result of a bunch of small changes that require a shift in thoughts and beliefs.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
