I specialize in
Marriage Counseling
, using a positive approach that helps couples connect emotionally while healing and working through conflict.
As a Relationship Therapist I help Individuals, couples, and families overcome tough issues and discover deeper more fulfilling relationships. I specialize in Infidelity Recovery. Discovering that you have been cheated on and lied to is a painful and traumatic experience that can cause many feelings such as despair, anger, sadness, rage, fear and loss. If you were unfaithful, realizing the depth of the pain caused, and the guilt associated with it is often unbearable. However, there is hope; getting over the betrayal, takes a skilled experienced therapist. I call back 7 days a week for urgent matters; I understand the need for help.

I offer both individual psychotherapy and
marriage
/ couples counseling.
Therapy is a powerful tool for changing relationships with your partner, family, or other significant people. Most importantly, it includes your relationship with yourself. My more than 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist has shown that when people improve how they treat and view themselves, even in small ways, the benefits are enormous: less stress, emotional turmoil, anxiety, and negative thinking; more confidence, contentment, life balance, and self-acceptance; and better communication with those you love.

One of you is ready to leave the
marriage
, and one of you wants to stay in.
You and your spouse are not in a good place. One of you is ready to walk away, and one of you is desperately hanging on. You've had tough times in the past, but this feels different. If you've made several attempts to make it work, and find yourself back in a hopeless place, divorce may seem like the next step. If you are the one hanging on, feeling confused about what's happened, you are desperate to keep things together. The idea of divorce is terrifying to you. You both feel misunderstood, your experience of the
marriage
does not align. You cannot agree about anything.

Suffering from anxiety, depression, or substance abuse often means unhealthy thought patterns/actions are reinforcing cognitive distortions and destructive behaviors. Anxiety leads to avoidance of situations that potentiate more anxiety, yet fears of triggering stimuli remain active. Depression is constituted by biases towards negative thoughts, and without challenging unfounded beliefs about one's worth or abilities, depression persists. Those abusing alcohol or other drugs cannot participate in life unaided by the numbing effect substances generate. These individuals are stuck, not broken. If motivated, they may all recover.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
