A strong
relationship
between therapist and client is one of the biggest indicators of success in therapy.
Hello and welcome! Starting therapy can be an anxiety-provoking experience at first but one that can make a big difference in your life. In my practice I work to create a trusting, comfortable, and safe
relationship
based on unconditional positive regard. By using empathy, humor, and a client-centered approach, I strive to create a collaborative
relationship
with my clients. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach but you can expect to learn new skills, develop a strong and healthy
relationship
with yourself, and move toward the life you want to be living.

I am interested in hearing your experience and your story. I know it can be hard to talk about ourselves in a way that makes us feel vulnerable. My goal for clients is finding strength inside yourself to feel safe walking through an ever changing world and the self-worth and confidence you deserve. I work with
couples
on communication and understanding each other. I work with adolescents in life transitions. I work with individuals in finding out more about how to have meaningful relationships.

must be based on trust and mutual respect. I believe that every client has a unique story to tell, and therapy is tailored to those needs. I provide trauma-based therapy, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-oriented psychotherapy. I treat adults, adolescents and families.

My commitment to my clients is to build a caring, honest, sensitive and deeply accepting
relationship
with you that relaxes into a safe and intimate
relationship
.
Many of us feel disconnected from others and ourselves. We seek a truer and healthier sense of our well being and presence in the world. In my work with adults and teens I help individuals become healthier versions of themselves whether they’re working through anxiety, depression, troubled relationships, addiction, life transitions or emerging symptoms of more serious mental illness and trauma. I believe each of us needs to be seen and heard, and respected in our unique complexity. Underlying the issue that brings us to therapy is the desire to change and heal, even when that change is difficult to put into words.

I help individuals,
couples
, adolescents, and families.
Asking for help takes courage when you find yourself overwhelmed and not sure what to do. I approach my work with compassion and understanding. I strive to create an environment for you that is safe, accepting, and free of judgement. I believe that the purpose of therapy is to learn more about ourselves by expressing ourselves openly and honestly without emphasis on what is "right" or "wrong." This can help us identify deep patterns that keep us stuck and create new ways of dealing with life's challenges and being in relationships.

Together we will discover and name the challenges you face, understand the barriers and strengths you bring to forming a new and dynamic
relationship
to these challenges, and create pathways to the ease and clarity in your life that you desire.
I specialize in treating people engaged in making life transitions, whether they have been consciously chosen or not. My threshold work focuses on assisting you to skillfully navigate the space between what was and what is yet to be, an often uncomfortable time called ‘liminal space’, when what can become deeply transformative may feel more like a disorienting upheaval. Issues such as depression and anxiety; the changes we encounter because of health and aging; shifts in self-expression, relationships, work, and your unique spiritual connection to this life may all be redefined in the transition.

With an emphasis in Somatic Psychotherapy, I specialize in helping individuals,
couples
, and groups find their way back to resiliency, connection, and joy.
The foundation of my work with you rests in the belief that human connection based on insight and empathy is transformational. Often times suffering is a result of habitual patterns and behaviors based on fear, and difficult experiences. This drains our natural ability to enjoy life, and unfortunately cultivates a culture of isolation and aloneness. Our honest and trusting therapeutic
relationship
will transmute your aloneness so that you once again have access to your innate resiliency and wonder of life. It takes courage and vulnerability to reach out for support. Know I will be your ally.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
