Hi, I've been in practice since 1980, I work best with adults and adolescents. My areas of interest are individual and couple therapy. Specific areas are stress disorders, eating disorders, sexual problems, substance abuse, anger, relationship problems, depression and anxiety disorders and coaching. I look at where you are emotionally, nutritionally, your physical fitness level and medical status.I do an evaluation and design a treatment plan to reach your goals.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who takes a holistic approach to mental health treatment. I find that our experiences impact different parts of our life (i.e., social, mental, physical, spiritual, sexual, etc.), and attention needs to be paid to each area. The first thing we work on, no matter what the problem, is establishing a trusting relationship where you feel comfortable and safe.

My therapeutic style is grounded in a humanistic approach and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy with a pragmatic, down-to-earth style. Each client's therapy is individualized, collaborative, and strengths based. I help clients learn to regulate and manage feelings that overwhelm them and negatively affect their thoughts, moods, and attitudes that, in turn, lead to destructive behavior. Whether it is anxiety, depression, diminished self-esteem, or relationship issues, individual clients come to understand their present circumstances in light of their past. I am committed to helping clients improve relationships and gain self knowledge.

I have over 35 years experience as a clinical psychologist. I work primarily with individual adults but also have considerable experience working with children and adolescents. I worked as a service provider in Contra Costa and I provide consultation, coaching, and support to families impacted by severe mental health (ex: psychosis, suicidality, mood disorders etc.) to help navigate the system of care to support their loved one suffering from mental illness.
