We often find ourselves members of "clubs" we never signed up for. Unexpected "club" memberships might include living with anxiety, complex ptsd/ptsd, divorce, single parenting, the challenges of fostering or adopting, loss of a loved one, on and on. Isolation and shame are common while navigating these "club memberships." My clients are tired of being tired, ready to move from paralysis to growth, and desperate for hope and healing. They want to believe they are worthy of love, hold intrinsic value, and have something positive to bring to the world. They want positive life change and healthy relationships with self and others.

I invite people to be curious about their brains, to understand why they do, how they think! Addicted? Anxious? Angry? A relationship in trouble? All are about the brain. Learning about the amygdala and how it is connected to the rest of the brain, the alert it keeps us at, has everything to do with learning about doing life differently from here forward. Learning how visceral tension response on the body is a clue to what is going on in the mind, gives a sense of control in any situation, giving the balance between frontal lobe executive thinking and limbic system emotional reactivity.

At the root of all psychological and emotional distress, is the absence of/or lack of love, acceptance and belonging. When this need is not met, we consciously and subconsciously find other ways to fill the void, often through self-destructive behaviors and emotional self-loathing. The vast majority of people do not know how to love themselves or find value in who they are, especially when coming from backgrounds of abuse, addiction or abandonment. When a person understands their value, their self-worth, their reason for being, the psychological and emotional distress dissipates, and behaviors change.

I am a mediator, translator, and witness. I can help clients rewrite their narratives, fostering growth and healing. I attend workshops, read, and learn from my clients to stay atop of the latest information and cultural norms. Together, you can learn to hold space for transformation and healing. In a first session, I would hope to teach you how to navigate the therapeutic process, go over expectations, and your personal goals. Eventually, I hope therapy feels as comfortable as eating pizza in your sweatpants & chatting with a trusted friend (with real science going on in the background).

Clients often walk away with a greater awareness of their own strength after meeting with Lois. She is an attentive, thoughtful listener who genuinely cares about her clients. She aspires to help those who come through her office to develop a more accurate view of who they are and increase their awareness of personal resources, internal and external. Problems, though initially heavy, can prod the curious toward discovering more effective ways of thinking that lead to greater success. Additionally, they can jumpstart increased capacity for personal growth and character.

You may be someone who shows up for others with depth and devotion—but feels like no one truly shows up for you in return. Perhaps you’re navigating heartbreak, a major transition, or the slow unraveling of old protective patterns. You long for connection that feels mutual and safe. You want to feel more at home in yourself, to understand your triggers without shame, and to trust that healing is possible—especially in relationships. You may also be in the midst of parenting, grief, or re-centering after a period of burnout. What you want most is to be met—with care, clarity, and respect for your inner complexity.

Hey there, I am Anissa Robinson, LMFT. I truly enjoy hearing everyone's stories and how our core beliefs drive our behaviors. Challenging these beliefs in combination with humor and strong rapport is my thing, let's see if we are a good fit. Most commonly I use CBT and DBT they are like sister modalities. When we can build some rapport, we can also get down to the trauma portion which could be where the issues stem from. I like to begin fairly warm and can be quite direct once rapport is built and you can handle someone sharing " Is this getting you closer, or farther from your long-term goals?"
