Therapy done right builds on personal connection, finds unrecognized freedoms, and orients it all with purpose, values and place. My therapeutic stance enhances wellbeing with openness, balance, warmth, intelligence and wit. My practice cultivates vitality and resilience, not dependence. I can help you acknowledge and overcome difficulties, reckon realistically with limits, and untangle other matters of the heart. Some pain is a part of life, but you needn’t suffer or manage it all alone.

Your Mental Health Matters, my goal is to be your guide, confidante and empathetic listening ear while you figure out what you want, what you need and how to get your life in a position where you feel fulfilled and balanced. The world can be a chaotic and stressful place. I am here to help anyone who is willing to process and explore their emotions to heal. The only goal to start with is making the call or sending the e-mail to ask for help. Speaking and hearing your truth can be scary but is necessary for the process of healing to begin. Therapy is a journey that I am honored to take with you to improve your quality of life.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing online therapy for individuals, couples, families, and teens (14–18) anywhere in California. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, disconnected in their relationships, or unsure how to move forward through life’s challenges. My goal is to provide a space where you can feel safe, understood, and supported as you find greater clarity and confidence. A therapist helped me through a crisis when I was younger and it changed the course of my life — I began to feel whole again. I bring that same sense of compassion and hope to my work with clients.

It's all about relationships, starting with your relationship to yourself, your family of origin, your partner, children, friends. And then there's the relationship to your problems: things like depression, anxiety, ADHD, post-partum and parenting stress, body-image problems. How do you work with the set of challenges that life hands you? I work with clients to understand themselves and their own story, and then apply that understanding, in the form of coping and problem-solving skills, to their relationships, to get through life's pain and into a life worth living.

I believe each of us were designed for deep relationship and long for a sense of acceptance and belonging. So often however, we seem unable to experience authentic connection or intimacy with others. Though we reach out, we may feel unseen and unheard, eventually withdrawing, questioning our worth, and losing our ability to know and share our true self. It is in these times we may need someone with whom we can share our burdens, someone who will hear our brokenness and accept us as we are.

My therapeutic approach mainly focuses on helping my clients identify their strengths to help alleviate anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am a firm believer that our childhood experiences contribute to our beliefs, behavioral patterns, and selecting a romantic partner. Therapy is a process! To allow ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable with someone about our experiences and trauma can be daunting. As a therapist, it is my goal to help validate, create a safe environment and help understand aspects of lived experiences.

I offer innovative solutions for complex challenges. Maybe people are using labels that seem chronic and don’t accurately reflect either what you are experiencing or what you’ve been through! Maybe you’ve had experiences in treatment that were not ideal or where you did not feel culturally respected or safe. When there is no simple answer for anxiety, depression, emotional pain, neurodivergence, abuse or addictive behavior, maybe it is possible we can find one. I pay attention to things like complex or generational trauma and am prepared to help with things like dissociation, psychosis or hearing voices if that is needed.

Grief shows up in our lives when we least expect it. And often we may not even connect our sadness to loss, whether it's a lost opportunity, a lost dream, our mobility, our youth. With every change, we leave something behind; but what isn't always as apparent is that we also start something new. An empathic therapist who is truly attuned to you can help you make those meaningful connections for a new start as you embark on perhaps the most important journey of self-discovery and growth in your life: your healing journey.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
