I approach therapy with a biblical worldview, providing therapy to couples , families, and individuals with various life issues.
Sometimes life can be challenging, especially if we do not have the right skill set to deal with the issues life throws at us. My goal is to meet you where you are at and walk alongside you, while providing you with the safe space and support you need to work through your specific need. My clinical experience includes helping individuals learn to manage and overcome fear and anxiety, cope with bereavement, learn healthy emotional regulation strategies, resolve relationship problems, and more. I use prepare and enrich to help couples work through different issues in their relationship , and EMDR to help individuals process trauma.

If you’re reading this, you’re having some sort of trouble. I help good people get through tough times. There are many ways to do counseling. You can think of me as a life coach who offers principles to help you solve personal and relational problems. And /or, I can be your therapist to help you process a history of hurts and help you get on with your life. I work with couples and individuals (children, teens and adults) in an atmosphere that is casual and relaxed. I use language and tools you can use now. No psychobabble. If we connect we're likely to do some good work. So I'm ready when you are.

I also provide counseling to couples seeking assistance with various issues ranging from premarital counseling to intimacy issues.
Hi There! Thanks for visiting my profile. I don't need to tell you that I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist because I am sure you have already read that in the heading of my profile. What that heading doesn't say is that I am a wife and a mom and I completely understand the rewards and challenges we face daily in both those roles. While I do work with various populations, it is my role as a wife and a mom that have lead me to specialize in working with children and families in various capacities. .

Aloha! Life is full of change and transition, and that means life is also full of times when we need extra support to manage the anxiety, depression, and/or distress that often comes along with it. If this sounds like you, you're in the right place. I like to think of myself as a treatment partner , not someone who sits silently while you figure out your own path forward. That means I take a holistic, collaborative approach to treatment, with a nod to evidence-based practices, such as CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, as well as using EMDR and trauma-focused CPT for PTSD and other trauma-related symptoms.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
