In over 30 years of private practice, I have specialized in relationship dynamics, communication,
ADD
in adults, anxiety, depression, dependency/codependency, goal-setting, confidence coaching and self-esteem.
Do you resist counseling because of fear that you will be blamed for problems, afraid that you will cause your partner to feel blamed or to get angry? Instead of focusing on blame, we work on communication, feelings & needs by fostering understanding aiming toward solutions. While exploring each person's history coping style, encouraging insight into each partner's own part in the unproductive dynamic, I function as a neutral objective partner, not taking sides, helping you learn how to talk to each other without interruptions, insults or disdain & often assign homework to reinforce skills taught in-session to practice at home.

My priority first and foremost is to build trust in the client-therapist relationship. It can be challenging to share painful thoughts and emotions with others, so I believe it is a privilege whenever I am allowed into someone’s internal world. I take a holistic and collaborative approach to therapy, working with clients to address life transitions, family or relationship issues, overwhelming emotions, and self-harm. Having worked extensively with ethnically- and gender- diverse populations, I especially enjoy helping adolescents and adults explore their sense of identity and find meaningful roles in their communities.

**Now accepting new clients VIRTUALLY throughout CA** Many of my clients struggle with feelings of shame, insecurity and anxiety. They often have difficulties setting boundaries and fear “not being good enough”. Sometimes this shows up as dissatisfaction with their bodies; some are chronic dieters that struggle with the tension and anxiety of restriction or the shame and “out of control” feeling of bingeing. Other times, clients struggle with trying to be perfect and have harsh inner critics, no matter their amount of external successes. There can be a strong desire to “fix” themselves while also longing to feel more free.

Hi There! Thanks for visiting my profile. I don't need to tell you that I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist because I am sure you have already read that in the heading of my profile. What that heading doesn't say is that I am a wife and a mom and I completely understand the rewards and challenges we face daily in both those roles. While I do work with various populations, it is my role as a wife and a mom that have lead me to specialize in working with children and families in various capacities. .

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
