Welcome! I am a licensed marriage and
family therapist
practicing narrative therapy. My primary focus is to be respectful to each person I meet with, and to help each person discover and remember the abilities they have which can help them move through life despite the obstacles which sometimes get in the way. I am passionate about standing alongside the people I collaborate with against the problems that show up in their lives, sometimes these problems are systemic and oppressive, and require activism and courageous determination. I am happy to meet with individuals, couples, and families.

Hi There! Thanks for visiting my profile. I don't need to tell you that I am a Licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist
because I am sure you have already read that in the heading of my profile. What that heading doesn't say is that I am a wife and a mom and I completely understand the rewards and challenges we face daily in both those roles. While I do work with various populations, it is my role as a wife and a mom that have lead me to specialize in working with children and families in various capacities. .

Sometimes we all find ourselves feeling stuck or struggling in some way. Feelings of anxiety, depression, overwhelm or burnout are part of the human experience. For some people, it's a season of life or life circumstance or perhaps something that's been persisting for some time. Nevertheless, it doesn't mean you have to walk the path alone. As a therapist, my goal is to help clients find their way back to a healthier, thriving and content space.

You can't stop thinking about that moment... the words that were said and the way it made you feel. Whether it was years ago or yesterday, it still feels fresh. Maybe it was a comment your mother made or the words of an Ex. Either way, it stung, and it won't stop ringing in your ears. Why can't you get it out of your head? You've tried ignoring it, pushing it down, screaming at it and nothing has worked. It continues to creep in day in and day out. Chipping away at your self-esteem & self-worth. Affecting so much of your life and your ability to trust. You don't just want relief, you need it. You need to find a way to truly move on.

You wake up each morning feeling stuck and alone. Perhaps you know what is causing these feelings or maybe it feels like they came out of nowhere. Either way, these feelings overwhelm you and you’re just not sure what to do about it anymore. You notice that your relationships, work and even your ability to care for yourself are starting to be affected. You make plans to work out or make a positive change, but quickly give up because you just don’t have the energy. You are starting to lose hope that you can get yourself out of this.

Sentiero is an outpatient practice comprised of school psychologists, clinical psychologists, and registered psychological associates who conduct psychotherapy and psychological assessments. Life is sometimes unexpectedly difficult and suffering can be inevitable. However, how you respond to life circumstances can drastically change your ability to enjoy life. I have worked with many people who have believed in lies about themselves after a traumatic incident or because toxic people have told them horrible things about themselves. These lies can be crippling and further result in problems with anxiety, depression, addictions, lack of sleep, school related difficulties, stress, anger issues, parenting difficulties, communication difficulties, relational issues,
family
problems, job dissatisfaction and much more. I provide different perspectives that encourage personal healing.

I believe in working with children, teens, and adults through a combination of guidance and direction. Therapy can involve relieving stress in
family
relationships and improvement in overall quality of life for those in treatment. A lot of time and energy are spent with all other aspects in life, why wouldn't we invest growth and enrichment with our loved ones?

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
