Hi, I’m Jamaal and my goal, as a therapist, is to empower you as my client. I will do this by creating a safe space with you, to encouraging you during your process of exploration, and to providing reflection and guidance where it may be helpful. I am dedicated to fostering this inclusive and respectful space for all. Therapy can be a powerful tool to help build an understanding of yourself, gain confidence, and develop more fulfilling ways to move through life. I am motivated by helping people find the hope that change is possible, even when it feels nearly impossible.

There are times in our life when difficulties lead to thoughts and feelings within us that we are uncomfortable with. Ignoring those feelings doesn’t make them go away and often leave us frustrated and feeling stuck. Seeking counseling is a helpful way to find relief and healing when struggling with mental and emotional suffering, relationship conflicts, daily stress, and unhealthy behavior patterns. My background includes supporting clients in schools, homes, clinics, and correctional facilities. My practice also includes providing therapy to students, law enforcement, teachers, first responders, and medical personnel.

Do you ever feel like you give so much of yourself to love and help others but they don't love you back in the same way? Are you burnt out and exhausted from feeling like people around you take advantage of how you jump all in, in loving them? Do you feel resentful of these relationships? Perhaps you feel like if you don't love them the extra 9 miles, then they won't love you at all or that they will leave you. Sometimes this causes us anxiety and feelings of depression that paralyzes us to live life.

The focus is you. People who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, and loss sometimes forget that they matter. Other things become more important. When we work together, the most important person is you. We work on getting you better emotionally, physically and spiritually. Then you can heal and have a more balanced life. My clients tell me they appreciate how we get them unstuck in difficult times. They find hope and get energized about their life. I work well with cultural, biracial, multiracial and faith based situations. I have helped many individuals, couples, families and children achieve their goals.

Hello and welcome! My name is Lauren and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in the Bay Area. When people ask me what I do for a living, I love describing the privilege I have of being a Psychotherapist! It is with great humility and empathy that I get to walk alongside clients during different seasons of their lives. If I could pick 4 words to describe my style it would be invested, passionate, warm, and empowering. I value meeting clients where they are at, learning about what's important to them, increasing awareness and insight within their situations, and using the client’s strengths to see their desired changes.

You thought you were “over” the past – that it wouldn’t bother you anymore. After all, it was a long time ago. And for a while, it didn’t. But now, it’s coming back with a vengeance. All you want is peace, but thoughts of what happened barge in uninvited. Nightmares keep you up, making you so anxious that you’re starting to dread bedtime. You dread everything, really. It’s like you’re always anticipating danger – always bracing for something bad to happen. It’s wearing on you, and it’s getting harder and harder to keep your emotions at bay. You’re constantly flooded with anxiety and you feel like you’re going crazy.

Are trauma, anxiety and insecurity controlling your life, preventing you from pursuing your dreams and living life to the fullest? Do you relive the past as if it were happening right now? Your head knows better, but it fails to convince your heart otherwise. As horrible as those experiences were in the past, they continue to zap away your joy and confidence today. You might even avoid situations that trigger the feelings. Are there any lost part of you that you'd like to return to? Do others believe in your competence more than you believe in yourself? What would it be like if life was driven by passion and joy, not fear or shame?

But underneath, anxiety is constant, Your mind doesn’t slow down, you overthink everything, and even small things can feel overwhelming. Life is full of messy tensions. People who are supposed to be the safest let us down. The things we know are good for us can be the most difficult to follow through. Sorting through these tensions alone can be scary, frustrating, and exhausting. I'm Dr. Gabriel Lowe, a licensed psychologist at Coastal Therapy Group offering online therapy throughout California. I specialize in OCD, grief and loss, religious trauma, faith deconstruction, and couples counseling. It is my joy to help clients experience relief from emotional pain while developing a deep understanding of themselves.

You may look like you're managing well - successful, responsible, deeply committed to your family and community. But under the surface, you're running on empty. You're tired of pushing through, craving space to slow down, make sense of what you're feeling, and reconnect - with yourself, your people, and what matters most. If you're seeking something deeper, you're not alone.

It's time to break free from old patterns. Do you feel like you’ve been struggling with the same cycle of emotions for years and don’t know if it will ever get better? Have you ever felt like your problems aren’t “bad enough” for counseling? You may be highly functional in some areas of your life while below the surface you are struggling with some heavy feelings. I believe that breaking these cycles is a courageous and transformative journey.

Christian Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?
Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?
Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?
While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?
The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
