Whether you’re a parent feeling stretched too thin, a professional facing burnout, or a couple going through a difficult season, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and move forward with intention. I specialize in working with individuals and couples during times of transition—those moments when stress, uncertainty, or disconnection can feel overwhelming. Together, we’ll explore what’s no longer working, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical tools you can use outside of session.

Trained in PACT Level 2, Gottman Level 3, and Inner Relational Focusing incorporating attachment theory, somatic therapy, and parts work.
You want to be in relationships where your needs matter, and you’ve learned to overextend, walk on eggshells, and care for everyone except yourself. Maybe dating feels hopeless, like you’re being set up for rejection. Maybe you’re afraid of parenting the way you were parented. Your inner critic is loud. Your body feels tense. Your emotions stay trapped inside. Your shoulders carry it all—almost like a turtle shell protecting your most vulnerable parts. I can help you untangle rooted patterns that no longer serve you, so you can feel grounded in your body and build safe, mutual connections without losing yourself in the process.

Does it look like you have it all together on the outside, but deep down you feel anxious, exhausted, or empty? It seems like happiness is something "out there" or baked into your next achievement, but when you actually get what you're striving for, the emptiness quickly returns? Or maybe you feel like something is "off" in your life, but you can't pinpoint exactly what it is? As a (recovering) perfectionist myself, I've been there & I get it. I have a passion for helping adults and adolescents deepen their connection to themselves to get to the root of symptoms such as chronic anxiety, perfectionism, & relational instability.

As a certified Reiki Master, I integrate somatic and mindfulness practices when they align with your goals.
Therapy doesn't have to be just another appointment to squeeze into your day. I create a safe, inclusive environment where you're truly seen. The world is hard right now; your struggles aren't personal failures. They're responses to systems and circumstances that marginalize, oppress, and harm people. We'll create space to see your situation more clearly and reconnect with what actually matters to you. We'll look at the story of who you are to see who's been telling it, what fits, and what needs to shift. Therapy isn't about fixing what's broken in you. It's about helping you move through hard things.

I draw from IFS, EMDR, attachment/ somatic approaches, and Narrative/ Existential Therapy
I provide individual therapy for concerns like complex PTSD, anxiety and panic, religious trauma, scrupulosity and moral injury, identity development, relationship and family strain, political stress, and body image. If you are navigating a faith transition or life after a high-demand group, you may feel thoughtful yet anxious or numb, worn down by shame and people-pleasing. You want language for what happened, relief in your body, and a steadier sense of self. Together we will process trauma, set boundaries, separate fear from values, and rebuild relationships based on consent and choice.

Hi, my name is Vanessa (she/they) I am an AMFT and Registered Art Therapist. I am of Zapotec heritage, raised on Tataviam lands, known today as the Northeast San Fernando Valley. Identities I hold are being queer, disabled, 1st gen, neurodiverse, and somewhere on the gender spectrum of being femme and beyond one gender. My commitment as an Anti-Imperialist/abolitionist therapist show up in the space in the ways I do not center tenants of white supremacy such as perfectionism, worship of written word, centrism/white comfort, and individualism. As a person of color, my lived experience has led me to center social justice in my work.

My approach is trauma-informed and attachment-based, integrating somatic therapy, parts work (Internal Family Systems) and EMDR.
You may understand your patterns and still feel stuck in them, especially in relationships. Many of the brave individuals I work with struggle with anxiety, overthinking, or relationships that leave them feeling disconnected or unsure of themselves. Some notice patterns around self-worth, body image, or a strong inner critic, while others feel the impact of past experiences or trauma. Often, one part understands what’s happening while another feels overwhelmed or reactive. They’re not looking for quick fixes, but for something that helps things truly shift toward a deeper sense of wholeness in mind, body, heart, and soul.

As an "elder", I know of the vulnerabilities and anxieties that can arise due to the aging process. Elders often have to deal with change, loss and grief more frequently than one does in earlier stages of our lives. We are touched by them, directly or indirectly. Learning to more gracefully move through these transitions is an opportunity for deeper emotional, psychological and spiritual growth. These challenges can become the medicine for your spirit and soul.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
