I also specialize in OCD and am certified in ERP as well as trained in I-CBT.
Are you struggling to feel connected to an authentic and confidence sense of self? Do you often feel lonely, bored, or empty even though you have things in your life that should be bringing you fulfillment? Do you feel paralyzed by uncertainty or having to make decisions in your life? Maybe it seems that all areas of your life are being impacted by the internal chaos you are experiencing. I believe that happiness shouldn't be this hard, that there is a reason that you are struggling. Understanding the underlying reasons for your current symptoms, and the beliefs that formed them, can help you to make changes to your current life.

You do not need "big trauma" to feel overwhelmed. Many people carry the weight of complex experiences, perfectionism, family dynamics, and shame, without naming it. Or you have always felt ‘not enough,’ even when things look fine on the outside. Whether you feel stuck, overthink, are on edge, or caught in painful patterns that do not make sense, we will explore how past experiences shape your relationships, reactions, and self-protection. I can help you make sense of old patterns, reduce internal pressure, and reconnect with yourself.

I specialize in treating anxiety disorders and OCD using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
Your mind never seems to stop. You replay conversations, question whether you made the right decision, worry about making mistakes, or feel trapped in cycles of overthinking. Maybe you're dealing with intrusive thoughts that don't match your values, panic attacks that seem to come out of nowhere, or perfectionism that's making work and relationships exhausting. The very qualities that helped you succeed may now be keeping you stuck. Many of my clients are high-functioning adults and ambitious kids. They don't need help becoming more successful - they need help managing the anxiety that gets in the way.

I believe one's mental health is the foundation for overall health and longevity. Feeling scene, heard and supported are the cornerstones of positive mental health. Having a safe sounding board can be life changing and my goal with clients is to make sure that they know they don't have to hold life's "heavy stuff" alone. Learning how to re-connect to self as well as improve communication with others is a focus when working together.

Anxiety and OCD are my specialties but I also have some training in alcohol and substance use issues, as I completed my practicum at Sharp McDonald Center and my associate hours at Bold Health.
The therapeutic relationship can be an invaluable opportunity to foster growth, take intelligent risks, and rewrite unhelpful narratives. Often the most important and difficult changes in life are internal. Moreover, the most critical changes can begin with the acceptance of a painful reality. Sometimes it is helpful to explore these realities with a supportive individual who has some distance from the situation. I find the most successful clients are curious about their own beliefs and feelings. While they want to be challenged, they also believe in the necessity of self-compassion.

You’ve managed your anxiety for a while but lately it’s feeling more like your anxiety is managing you. You just want a moment of peace, where your mind isn’t spinning with what-ifs and to-dos, leaving you buzzing and frozen at the same time. You have some “coping skills” but lately even those feel as effective as putting out a wildfire with a squirt gun. And no matter how much others try to reassure you, you can’t shake the ever-present thought, “Yeah, but what if they’re WRONG?”

OCD, depression, and anxiety can shape daily life in exhausting ways, whether it's intrusive thoughts, a heaviness that won't lift, or worry that won't quiet down.
I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. Together we'll work to loosen the grip of intrusive thoughts, build steadier coping tools, and process emotions in a way that actually sticks.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to develop and provide integrated (addiction/mental health) services to individuals, families, and corporations for more than 30 years.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
