Working through difficult experiences and emotions can be challenging. It can be even harder to make desired changes in ones life when certain patterns have been established for so long. I work hard to ensure that my clients feel safe and supported throughout this process. By creating a comfortable and lighthearted environment, individuals, families, and couples are able to gain some reprieve from the difficulties they are experiencing. This allows change to begin to occur in the lives of my clients.

I help guys become better men, husbands, and fathers. As men, we are conditioned to try and solve life's many complexities on our own, but the truth is reaching out for help shows immense strength, not weakness. You may find yourself experiencing anxiety, depression, or issues in your relationships. Perhaps you're more irritable than usual or find yourself being "short" with those around you. Often mental health struggles manifest themselves differently in men than they do in women. I am a therapist that understands the unique challenges men face and how to help navigate through them.

I work with men who are tired of repeating the same relationship patterns, pulling away when things get close, dishonesty, or feeling unable to sustain meaningful connection despite wanting it. Many of my clients are high-functioning and insightful, yet find that understanding their patterns hasn’t been enough to change them. My approach focuses on helping you understand and shift the deeper emotional forces driving these dynamics, so that change is not just intellectual, but lived. In our work, we slow things down and pay close attention to what’s happening in real time, both in your relationships and in the therapy office.

As a long-time surfer, climber, and explorer at heart, I see my role as a guide who helps you move through your fears and toward your longings. Like with any good guide, we'll map the territory, build trust in your Self, learn skills to navigate difficult spots, and discover clarity on top of the peak. I believe when our curiosity outweighs our fears, we can take the leap into a more authentic life. I work with adults with anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, addiction, relationship issues, grief, men’s issues, and life transitions. I am also trained in psychedelic integration for those seeking support for their journeys.

If you've found me here then you must be gearing up to make some changes in your life. Maybe you're worrying too much and happy too little. Maybe you're feeling lost, hopeless, or in a rut. Wherever you are, you've decided you want to feel better and be better, and you've shown the courage to ask for support. What a wonderful thing. My work with you will be collaborative, caring, and non-judgmental. I will help you reconnect to your inner-resources and strengths, to build new coping skills and problem-solving strategies, and to then apply those new ways of "being" in order to live a life that feels fulfilling and joyful to you.

I work with adults in their late teens to late 30s who feel emotionally disconnected or stuck despite appearing functional on the outside. Clinically and personally, I take my own maturation seriously, and that depth of engagement carries into the therapeutic work. Currently, I'm involved in psychoanalytic institutes in Los Angeles. Before becoming a therapist, I studied religious studies and ethnomusicology for years in India. I also owned and operated a biodynamic sheep farm for five years in rural Tennessee. All these experiences led to me becoming the therapist I am today. Therapy isn't just my job, its my passion!

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
