Another sleepless night… your mind pulling you in every direction and wonder why you’re not living your best life. Feeling off course because you’ve chosen or landed on the wrong path? Every day is another marathon on the hamster wheel, leaving you so exhausted that even the small things feel overwhelming. You’re tired and weary, but your commitment to bettering the lives of everyone else around you somehow keeps you going. You know you can’t go on like this much longer. You’re drifting further and further from your true self, and you can’t stay stuck in this life that doesn’t even feel like your own. Something’s got to give!

Through the use of gentle loving kindness, psycho-education, expressive arts, somatic therapy, relaxation and meditation, I support my clients as they journey through the unfamiliar territory of grief toward rebuilding their life.
Grief can result from many types of loss and life transitions: death of a loved one, loss of a relationship, miscarriage, abortion, job loss, aging, loss of our sexual selves. Walking beside those who are in the process of grief, I help them find compassion and wholeness in their life. I see clients dealing with grief as a normal and necessary process as well as those with complicated grief, anticipatory grief and trauma. Understanding the nature of grief, it is possible to get through this time of confusion, sadness, anger & loneliness to a place of hope and inner peace.

I provide a safe healing sanctuary for trauma survivors and those wanting to improve their mental health. Processing feelings and memories, along with regulating your nervous system is hard work. Often when starting therapy, things may feel worse before they get better. Healing is not linear, so the journey ahead can be bumpy. I’m here to go through it with you. You don’t have to do it alone. Along the way, we’ll work together to develop skills to help you manage your nervous system and reconnect with yourself so that you can return to or perhaps discover your authentic self.

Childhood trauma can cripple us, it creates overpowering ‘intense’ emotions such as anxiety, depression, and anger when left unattended which begins to create physical symptoms to defend our bodies from the internal wounds. Has there ever been a time in your life where you have experienced this reaction? Are you experiencing these feelings based on current or past trauma from childhood, early teens, adolescence, adulthood, or as a senior? I aim to utilize a variety of actionable techniques to help reduce trauma related symptoms and make lasting changes in life.

My approach goes beyond just talk therapy, and is experiential, somatic (body) and mindfulness based.
Life changes, like divorce, job loss or death of a loved one, can rock our world and leave us reeling. These upheavals are also opportunities - to find ourselves, identify what matters most, discover unknown strengths and create our lives anew. I have extensive experience supporting people through this challenging process.

I specialize in working with couples and adult individuals and have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an empirically validated model to decrease relationship distress and increase closeness. As an emotionally focused therapist, my approach is grounded in the belief that having fulfilling relationships is essential for wellness. My background in trauma also informs my practice, as many of us have experienced some type of relational/developmental trauma in our lives. It is my goal to create a safe and compassionate environment where we can explore the stuck parts of your life and establish changes that last.

I also utilize Somatic Therapy, which involves connecting to bodily awareness, and am informed by Feminist approaches to therapy, which take into account the societal and cultural factors that influence us all.
Struggling to feel understood? Looking to learn more about yourself in a safe, respectful environment? My name is Beth and I am a queer, asexual therapist with ADHD who loves helping others on their journeys with identity, neurodivergence, and coping with life stress and anxiety. My approach to therapy is collaborative, relational, and feminist. I believe that the personal is political, so I aim to make therapy a safe space to explore the impact of capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy, etc. As a therapeutic game master with a passion for ttrpgs, I also love finding ways to incorporate your hobbies into your healing journey.

We all feel lost from time to time, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been through my own therapy as a young adult when I was stuck in a bout of anxiety and panic attacks due to childhood trauma. Throughout my years of working with traumatized individuals, I learned first-hand about how childhood trauma can have a strong impact on adulthood. I can help you address unresolved trauma, in order for you to find passion, connection, and purpose in your life.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
