I take an integrative approach in my work blending somatic and mindfulness techniques, attachment-based approaches, person-centered, and trauma-informed care tailored to a person’s goals in therapy.
Certain experiences in life can leave someone feeling uncertain about themselves, which can be a very raw and vulnerable state to be in. I meet people with a warm, down-to-earth approach that is relatable and authentic. My goal is to create an environment where personal exploration feels inviting. I have a passion for helping people recognize their worth through empathetic reflection and compassion. My style of therapy prioritizes meeting someone where they are at in this moment and joining alongside them as they learn how to tap into their inner wisdom.

At different times we experience unresolved situations that affect our sense of clarity, calm and balance. As a therapist and guide, together we will strive to remove those obstacles and restore hope and engagement. We can achieve this through developing goals and ways to cope that address those often unexpected and sometimes familiar patterns of living. My practice serves individual adults, children/teens, parents including parent and child therapy and elders. My wish for clients is to find an open/trusting therapist in me, and for us to collaboratively effect healing/change.

We all feel lost from time to time, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been through my own therapy as a young adult when I was stuck in a bout of anxiety and panic attacks due to childhood trauma. Throughout my years of working with traumatized individuals, I learned first-hand about how childhood trauma can have a strong impact on adulthood. I can help you address unresolved trauma, in order for you to find passion, connection, and purpose in your life.

Well-being is possible! I am passionate about helping clients get relief from anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. I believe clients benefit most from therapy when the underlying causes of their symptoms are addressed. My approach goes beyond just talk therapy, and is experiential, somatic (body) and mindfulness based. You can expect to gain helpful skills and tools, as well as new perspectives for old problems. Clients find increased peace, empowerment and fulfillment in their lives. My style is genuine, collaborative, empathetic, non-judgmental and practical.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
