I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or addiction who are seeking a compassionate and understanding space to address their challenges. Many of the people I support face cultural or military-related concerns, severe mental health conditions, or difficulties with social skills. They strive to manage symptoms, enhance emotional regulation, improve interpersonal effectiveness, and achieve a sense of overall well-being. These individuals are motivated to engage in therapy, open to evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and EMDR, and committed to creating positive changes in their lives.

A mentor once told me, "We can't negotiate the terms of our own surrender," and that has framed my approach toward acceptance and healing as we live life on life's terms. Sometimes we need to take a step back to reflect on a new way to approach situations when "our way" seems to be getting in our way. I invite you to bring awareness to what brought you to this page and if the above message resonates, let's chat.

As an openly gay bi-cultural man, I’ve spent the better part of my adult life unlearning the harmful messages our world tells us about what it means to be different - that we are somehow broken or unworthy.
My goal is to help you HEAL - to help you cultivate a peaceful and contented life despite the difficult things you have been through and that you will no doubt encounter in the future. But this takes dedication and a willingness to be uncomfortable. My role is to create a safe space, give you the tools, and (compassionately) hold you accountable to them.

I have worked with all kinds of people, but I seem to have a bunch of middle-aged men and women coming into therapy with one major issue they want to change.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California with 10 years of professional work experience in mental health. I have experience in helping clients with anxiety, coping with addictions, relationship issues, & family conflicts. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I come with an existentialist approach to the therapeutic room which means I am trying to help my clients find meaning in the change they seek. I believe that without finding meaning it is hard to find a direction for change.

I’m interested in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, multigenerational trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, and men who are curious about exploring their understanding of “masculinity”.
Hi, I'm Andrew Mohamed and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker originally from NYC, and loving the California experience! I take a collaborative approach with my clients in identifying problem areas that are influencing unhealthy dynamics in their life. This can be depressive experiences, anxiety-riddled moments, concerns around various relationships in your life, or life transitions that are feeling challenging to navigate. And it’s OK if you don’t have it all figured out, we can unpack things that are feeling troublesome for you together.

I also enjoy working with men, helping men understand their feelings and their partners feelings so they can have the relationship they desire.
I can help you unlearn some of the things you learned that aren't working, and learn new ways of interacting so that relationships are more trusting, loving and less frustrating. I can help you navigate the fears that come up when you are brave enough to enter a close relationship.

My speciality is Men.
The question is what needs to occur to get you back? This is the apex of therapy; and it is done in a highly confidential manner. There is hope in addressing your past and considering your future. Men in this season can and do “get better”. Seek some answers that you may just be able to rely on.

I help guys become better men, husbands, and fathers.
Perhaps you found my profile because you are considering therapy, and for that I applaud you. You have taken the first step toward healing and that is an incredible start. Maybe you still feel uncomfortable with the idea of therapy or you found me by accident. In that case, I sincerely look forward to answering your questions.

My typical clients are couples, individual men, teens, or young adults, who desire to gain better self-understanding, feel "stuck” in their current situations, are experiencing significant life transitions, suffer from anxiety or depression, believe that life should be better than it is right now, or desire to break generational chains and confront identity-based traumas.
I utilize Restoration Therapy to help my clients consider how their past connects to the present as we pursue change. My goal is to help you connect your negative feelings to what you typically do, and empower you to consider the possibility of believing something new and doing something different.

Utilizing my masters training in Mexico City, I’ve cultivated tools particularly useful for men and their families.
Taking the plunge and getting into therapy is the first step in trying to change the direction of your life. If you are struggling with life decisions, or recently gone through some difficult life changes and are challenged by anxiety, depression, motivation, self-esteem, or religious paradigm changes, you are not alone.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
