I have significant passion, along with training and experience, in working with trauma , early childhood trauma , and intergenerational trauma .
You can function well and be successful and sometimes you can even do it all with a smile on your face. Yet underneath it all, you may feel stuck under the crushing weight of trauma and stress. It can be difficult for others to understand because of how well you present yourself despite your suffering. Know that you are not alone. Just because you are doing great, doesn’t mean you will always feel great. Sometimes that light at the end of the tunnel can seem far off. But I am here to tell you that it’s much closer than you think. I would be honored to walk alongside you and help you reach that light while honing your inner strength.

I believe that living your life authentically is a core of life satisfaction. Sometimes our suffering, loss, or worry makes us avoid living in a truly authentic way. These experiences can lead to post traumatic stress, depression, and/or anxiety. I care about who you are intrinsically, and will work with you to process those painful experiences, cope with anxiety, and reach a point where life feels manageable again. I won't push people to relive bad experiences, but I will work to establish a safe space to share and explore your needs at your own pace.

It is hard to navigate traumatic experiences and their lasting impacts on us whether it's developmental trauma , community/domestic violence or while serving in the military.
It is so exhausting living inside a traumatized body and mind. Anxiety that seems to come out of nowhere; thoughts, feelings, and the overwhelm of re-experiencing events. Feelings of unsafety or a constant need to be hyperaware. Insomnia, changes in appetite make matters worse because the body and mind don't get the needed fuel and rest leading to cycles of collapse. The anxiety and collapse cycle can cause us to feel disconnected from ourselves, loved ones and the world. We can lose trust in our own judgment and ability to heal. My approach is informed by a holistic integration of practices to help reconnect mind, body and soul.

I am skilled in three evidence based trauma therapies: EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), Somatic Experiencing and IFS (internal family systems.
Over the years working in a variety of settings with many types of people I have found my niche is working with people who have lasting effects from childhood trauma , addictions and compulsive behaviors, and difficulties in relationships. Clients tell me that my ability to stay consistent, calm, and grounded helps them slow down so they can connect to their body - feel their emotions - and experience themselves more whole and alive. Since 2004 I have worked with people with problematic sexual behavior and their loved ones as a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT) using trauma therapies and Pat Carnes Task Centered Approach.

Welcome, and here’s a bit about my practice! I am client-centered in training so therapy is about you and your goals, not mine. I strive to be honest, to “hold up a mirror" to help people get more clear on who they are and what they truly value. I have found that most benefit specifically from this pairing of therapeutic challenge and caring support. My passion is working with people who process differently, might identify as neurodivergent. This includes medical terms like ADHD, ASD, personality disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders, trauma , self-injury, bipolar disorders, etc. The goal is self-acceptance and empowerment!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
