My ideal clients are self-aware and have already done personal work, yet still feel stuck. They come to me frustrated that insight alone hasn't shifted their anxiety, relationship patterns, or painful memories. Many have tried therapy before and wonder why certain wounds haven't healed. I work with individuals, teens, and couples throughout California, offering weekly therapy and EMDR Intensives for those ready to go beyond coping into real processing. Using EMDR and trauma-focused approaches, I help clients finally resolve what the nervous system has been holding so they can move forward with greater peace and confidence.

SEXUAL healing: I can listen to any story - those uncomfortable experiences that are hard to talk about, confusion over how to use sexuality. I have heard it before. Sexual addiction is compulsion, but Cross Wiring is the form the compulsion takes. I have written books on how to heal sexuality, including how to accept your use of kink practices and fantasies. This brings clarity so you can decide to continue your activities, or not. Reclaiming Healthy Sexual Energy: Using Sex for Love is all about healing sex - from abuse, and from the negative influence of the culture. You get witnessing for what you struggle with. It's in there.

Each person has unique strengths, powerful potential, and an innate ability to heal and thrive. Yet at times worry, sadness, or traumatic past experiences can move us off track. No matter the challenges you face, there tools to help you increase resilience, discover your strengths, get back on track, and connect to your success.

If you’re highly capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or quietly exhausted on the inside, this work may be for you. Many of my clients are high-functioning adults and couples navigating complex trauma, betrayal, or painful relational and intimacy patterns. Often the “strong one,” they’ve outgrown surface-level coping and are ready for precise, depth-oriented work that creates real change. I specialize in complex and relational trauma, attachment and betrayal trauma, narcissistic abuse recovery, and intimacy challenges, including compulsive sexual behaviors and intimacy or sexual anorexia.

Cultivating emotional health, growing vibrantly in daily life requires a harmony of being emotionally, mentally and spiritually grounded as a human being. As lovely as it sounds, this is challenging, if not altogether a daunting process for most of us. Especially with increasing depression, anxiety, life stressors and many other barriers we struggle with. How do we begin? What can be said and how do we embark on creating a healthier relationship with our true authentic self. How do we learn to connect to others and the world to nurture wellbeing? These are the questions to search out and discover. So breathe...and let's begin!

My traditional approach is an eclectic merge of psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and somatic therapy to help my clients achieve their individual and mental health goals.
I have worked extensively in inpatient and outpatient settings with severe mental health needs, trauma, family conflict, addiction, and other needs that lead to feeling out-of-control or hopeless. Due to my background, I work very well with adolescents and adults who are open to receiving help and confronting their life stressors.

Play, with neither a plan or purpose, is the best precondition -- Marie-Louise von Franz. Everyone has a story and sometimes we become stuck in our story because we want to move in a direction that may be different than what is expected. Being stuck may manifest with symptoms of anxiety, depression or other disorders. My approach is to encounter these symptoms with curiosity rather than judgment. The role of therapy is to provide understanding and an empathetic ear with a belief that the activity of therapy will provide insight and healing.

As a queer, bi-ethnic Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing-trained clinician, I bring a trauma-informed, social justice, feminist, and psychodynamic lens to our work together.
I see therapy as a collaborative process where I serve as your thought partner, walking alongside you until the negative self-cognitions and the weight of complex trauma are no longer in the driver’s seat of your life. Together, we’ll work toward a place where you feel more agency, peace, and self-trust.

When life gets complicated you may need a safe, confidential space to figure things out with an experienced, nonjudgmental expert you trust. I've had a successful practice for over 25 yrs. Because each client and situation is unique, I've learned what it takes to help clients thrive. Using goal-oriented psychotherapy, I offer a prescriptive combination of strategies based on preference. By gaining insight into emotional and behavioral responses and applying best-fit coping skills, my clients get the relief they need to not just move through the challenges, but beyond them.

Whether it's facing a difficult decision, caring for loved ones with mental health concerns, dealing with a loss, or managing a major life transition, having the right support and tools can make all the difference.

Life can be overwhelming. Ongoing problems may leave us feeling frustrated and defeated. Anxiety, depression, trauma, substance and behavioral addictions, relationship conflict, or grief and loss make it even harder to cope. The joy and spirit of life that we once had seems far gone. We may feel like we've been holding it together for weeks, months, or even years. At our lowest we lose perspective and believe things will never change. We don't want to be this way anymore. Life shouldn't feel this hard.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
