As the Clinical Director of a group practice and sex therapist, I want my patients to feel safe; trust opens the door to healing. I have successfully treated: infidelity,
sexual abuse
, pelvic pain, sexual compulsions, and erectile struggles. As Rumi said, "The wound is the place the Light enters you." Stress and unfinished emotional work can make us feel stuck or lead to destructive relationship patterns, and sexual acting out. My office is a shame free zone where we can unpack together a course best suited for your individual healing. Sex is a complex as each of us are as individuals. Shame can be in your past; a new life awaits!

I will be there to provide encouragement, sincere feedback, and support you in change. Once the source of your pain is clearly seen, discussed openly, and solutions are generated, joy and personal growth have the opportunity to return.

Let’s face it: life can get hard. Whether you feel weighed down by stress, dating, your relationship or an unexpected life event, there is help and there is hope. You know that there must be more to life than the pressure you're experiencing but you’re not sure what that looks like for you or perhaps how to even get there. You want support not just in improving how you’re feeling right now, but also in identifying and healing the source of what’s brought you to this place. I specialize in helping adults navigate the dating world, relationships, friendships, and family conflict.

I believe that each of us has an inner guiding wisdom that knows which decisions and directions are best for us. Through the process of listening to symptoms, feelings, and reactions, it becomes possible to reconnect to that wisdom and navigate through difficulties and challenges. Issues such as anxiety, depression, fears, weight, and insomnia are often symptoms that can teach us about what is working and what is no longer working in our lives. I can help turn old habits and responses into positive changes and create life-long tools for coping and moving forward. My approach is unique and effective.

I work with individuals dealing with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, identity issues, parenting and more. In psychotherapy, support, guidance and self-reflection can help to alleviate many symptoms that have been problematic for years. Although it can be difficult beginning the process of therapy, the results can be profound and can lead to meaningful discovery and transformation.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
