With training in the Trauma Resiliency Model,
Somatic
Experiencing, mindfulness, perinatal mental health, and Exposure and Response Prevention, I'm honored to help clients work toward banishing the burden of "perfection" in exchange for balance and fulfillment.
Stress, self-consciousness, sadness, fear: they're part of being human. But if feelings like these are becoming so overwhelming that they're affecting your well-being, I can be a supportive ally on your way toward healing and balance. In working with clients facing anxiety or panic, traumatic experiences, depression, body image issues, or creative or relationship struggles, I provide insight, tools, and support. We'll explore your core beliefs, improve communication, boost your self-compassion, figure out what's holding you back, and brainstorm strategies.

I am IFS-informed and focus on using “self-energy” to manage out-of-balance “parts” in addition to EMDR and
somatic
approaches.
Are you in emotional pain? Overwhelmed, insecure, ruminating, or stuck in self-loathing and surviving instead of thriving in your relationships, work life and creativity? Are past traumatic experiences, being an adult child of a dysfunctional home, anxiety, C-PTSD affecting your relationships and success? Or are you there but can't beat this last level 99 boss? Would you like to instead heal from past wounds to live a more authentic, purposeful, and joyful life through deeper connection? I believe I can help you access your own internal resources to safely heal and regain trust in yourself through depth work and a holistic approach.

As a Level II Certified Sensorimotor therapist, I have learned about the wisdom of the body in processing trauma and childhood wounds, as well as serving as a source of healing and creativity. In addition to “bottom-up”
somatic
processing, I integrate "top-down," evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Designed to challenge rigid, limiting, and habitual thinking patterns, I help people respond mindfully to the present moment, with meaningful, core values as the guide.

I have extensive knowledge and experience dealing with life challenges such as relationships/communication, parenting, grief and loss, life transitions,
somatic
complaints, and trauma.
When we suffer from feelings related to grief or loss, from unsatisfying relationships in the past or present, or from wishing to have more joy in our lives--therapy can be a powerful step toward healing and relief. Having a safe place and a compassionate person with whom to share our grief, our critical or frightening thoughts, and our longings can help enormously. I work in a relational, supportive, and collaborative way to help people move from anxiety, trauma, depression and problems with relationships to a place of increased trust, safety, and satisfaction.

These methods are from
Somatic
Experiencing, Conscious Eating, EMDR, and other neurobiological models.
Co-Dependency, Emotional Eating, Trauma and Faith Issues are my areas of clinical experience. Many of us have learned from important relationships to mute or dismiss our needs, wants and emotions. We might then look to take care of those needs and wants by people pleasing, being over focused on food or weight, or other behaviors that eventually feel out of control. Trauma and or neglect can be at the core of these behaviors as well. Some people of faith experience difficult challenges in life and have a hard time integrating their faith with their experience.

I place high value on
somatic
awareness and using mindfulness as a foundation.
Will I ever catch up? Will I ever be good enough? Am I lovable at all? Sorting out life's struggles puts you in a place of fear, self-doubt, shame and isolation. You are not alone. I want to help you get unstuck. Empathy and compassion help to loosen the grip against self-criticism. Collaboratively we will discover and make meaning of the origin of these fears.

I believe every client is unique and deserves to be listened to and understood in an empathetic way. Welcome. If you’re here, likely something is going on in your life that you would like to change. Perhaps you’re overwhelmed, sad, anxious, tired, in pain, on edge, bingeing on a substance or the internet, or having sleep issues. Trouble communicating with loved ones? Disconnected rather than connected? Maybe you can’t quite put your finger on it, but life just isn’t what it was, what you thought it would be, or what you would like. Anger, sadness, anxiety, disappointment, worry all play a part in everyone’s life, but sometimes it increases to the point where it’s just too much to bare alone.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
