I am grounded in attachment therapy- specifically
EFT
for couples and individuals.
Will I ever catch up? Will I ever be good enough? Am I lovable at all? Sorting out life's struggles puts you in a place of fear, self-doubt, shame and isolation. You are not alone. I want to help you get unstuck. Empathy and compassion help to loosen the grip against self-criticism. Collaboratively we will discover and make meaning of the origin of these fears.

I'm supportive, respectful, and direct in my approach; I lean into Gottman and
Emotionally Focused
Therapy to foster greater connection and communication.
Do you feel like you and your partner speak two different languages? Do you feel misunderstood, hurt, and resentful? Do you avoid conflict or get stuck in the same argument repeatedly? Reaching out for help doesn't mean that your relationship is beyond repair. It isn't easy to see your unhelpful patterns when you are right in the middle of them. You can break the cycle and feel more connected and closer to your partner. You can learn how to be yourself and be in a satisfying relationship. You can learn how to express your needs and be heard.

I am a certified EMDR Consultant-in-Training, Level 2 IFS therapist, and trained in
Emotionally Focused
Therapy, Brainspotting, and TRM.
Do you have an irrational, gut feeling you can't seem to shake? Maybe something telling you that you're not good enough, unsafe, powerless...? Sometimes, difficult experiences in our past can cloud how we live in and see the present. We find ourselves overreacting to things or people, feeling anxious or worthless. Our head can tell us we are being irrational, but that doesn't change the feeling. One of my goals is in helping you re-process the experiences in your life that push these feelings, so you not only know that you're okay - you feel it.

I believe that you already have the answers to living your best life. Sometimes though, this natural intuition is clouded by what we’ve experienced, or current life events. I help you process the past and anchor in the present so you can get to the life you deserve. I build a connection with my clients out of respect, empathy, and warmth in order to help you rebuild a healthy relationship with yourself. From there, you’ll start to see that you had the answers all along.

Living life on life's terms can be challenging. If you are overwhelmed by stress, find yourself repeating dysfunctional patterns in your personal life, reliving past hurts or experiencing difficulty navigating life transitions, therapy can provide relief. Relationship problems, anxiety, depression, and physical ailments are all common symptoms signaling that it may be time to address possible underlying issues which can cause emotional and mental pain. The experience of psychotherapy should be illuminating, validating and empowering. Choosing the right therapist is key.

While many people come to me feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and defeated, seeking therapy for oneself is actually a sign of strength. It takes a lot to recognize a need for change and to take steps to follow through. In my practice I provide a comfortable, supportive atmosphere to explore alternative ways of living and coping with problems so that life can be more fulfilling and enjoyable. The opportunity to see individuals and families grow and feel better through the therapeutic process is the reason I love my work so much. In addition to providing therapy, I also conduct ADHD screenings and Bariatric surgery screenings.

As a practitioner of Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT), I specialize in helping people heal from trauma, depression, and anxiety. I assist clients in a process of deep self-discovery using ETT, psychotherapy, and movement. ETT can help clients to heal more effectively from long-standing and painful patterns than traditional talk therapies alone. I treat a wide variety of conditions that prevent people from living an optimum life. My ideal client is committed to change, may have been in prior therapy that has not yet shifted fundamental maladaptive patterns, and open to new ways of thinking and feeling about themselves.

Life can be such a challenge. We humans are so resilient, but also fragile, and life can hurl things at us we could have never imagined. We often feel we're doing our best, it often doesn't seem good enough. Support is crucial. It's immensely useful to have a therapist who ACTIVELY helps you face life on life's terms. My clients are growth-oriented people who take a proactive role toward change. We look at their situation, feelings, behaviors and opportunities for growth w/compassion, hope and motivation. My style is warm and direct. I believe in using humor whenever possible - therapy doesn't have to be a drag.

I help adult individuals lower their anxiety and create stronger and healthier connections with themselves and others. It can be challenging to feel comfortable in the world around us. Personal reflection and stepping outside our comfort zones at our own pace can help with reducing anxiety and creating deeper connections to others.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
