Are you feeling stuck in your relationship, trying everything you can but ending up in the same painful patterns? Or are you worried about your teen, sensing something is off but not sure how to reach her? I work especially with women who are deeply invested in their relationships but feel emotionally exhausted, and teens who are struggling. When you are so close to the situation, it can be difficult to see clearly or know what will actually help. Therapy offers a space to slow down and understand what is happening, so you can move forward with a better sense of your next steps.

It is my belief that offering my clients a nonjudgemental, warm, and safe platform is priority. I feel that safety with a clinician can facilitate comfortability, which lends to growth throughout the therapeutic process. I value building connections with my clients and offer an unconditional positive regard. I place initial focus on identification of contributing factors to symptoms and behaviors. Additional attention is placed on assimilation of healthy coping strategies and altering of maladaptive thoughts.

You've been carrying something heavy — maybe for a long time. The weight of trauma, of holding your family together, of showing up for everyone else while quietly wondering when it's your turn. Whether you're navigating grief, anxiety, relationship strain, or the slow burn of stress that never quite goes away, you don't have to untangle it alone. As a Black female therapist in Pasadena, CA, I specialize in creating a space where you can be fully yourself — no code-switching, no explaining your culture, no starting from zero. Just honest, grounded work toward the life you want.

Are you exhausted in a way that’s hard to explain? Do you find yourself going through the motions of a life that looks fine on the outside, while quietly feeling disconnected, depleted, and far from yourself? If so, you are not alone, and something can be different. I work with women who are carrying a lot. Women who grew up learning to be everything for everyone else, and somewhere along the way lost touch with who they actually are. Women healing from trauma, narcissistic abuse, eating disorders, and the particular kind of exhaustion that comes from spending years performing a version of yourself that doesn’t quite fit.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
