Using a psychodynamic and somatic approach, I'll help you understand how past experiences shape your present reactions while also tuning into how stress shows up in your body.
Knowing firsthand how transformative therapy can be, I became a mental health clinician to help others uncover their inner strength and navigate life’s challenges. I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT) from the University of San Francisco (2020), specializing in Counseling Psychology, and I support teens and adults (16+) facing anxiety, trauma, and identity-related concerns. I’m continually inspired by the resilience I witness as clients heal, gain clarity, and move toward lives that feel more grounded and aligned with who they truly are.

Rooted in trauma-informed care using a Psychodynamic approach that blends with EMDR, IFS, and Somatic Work.
Clients often come to me feeling “stuck” between wanting closeness and needing protection. Therapy with me is not about pushing or fixing—it’s about understanding your patterns, restoring internal trust, and creating more ease in how you relate to yourself and others. I hold space for the full range of your story- both the pain and the strength. I see therapy as a co-created space where we untangle survival strategies that no longer serve you. I'm rooted in the depth of soul-work, exploration, and mind-body principles. Your story isn't finished, it's about to get powerful! Let’s get started!

Relational and flexible therapy for people whose bodies and brains have been misunderstood, dismissed, or disbelieved. When you go to bed at night, you wonder how you are going to feel the next morning. Will you wake up and immediately start bargaining with your body? Will you intend to start your morning routine and somehow end up doing everything except that? You wake up and still try. You push through, put on your mask, and hold it together…even when your brain won't load or you've already spent everything you had just getting out of bed. The shame creeps in before the day has even started. Why is this so hard?

My approach is eclectic, meaning I draw from different evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness.
Hi there, I'm Mariam! I am a licensed Psychologist. Through my clinical work, I aim to help people feel more like themselves again... especially when life feels heavy or disconnected. I’m drawn to exploring the deeper layers of what people carry, how past experiences shape how we see ourselves, and how we move through the world. In our work together, my goal is to offer a space where you can be real, feel understood, and start making sense of things at your own pace. You don’t have to have it all figured out (none of us do), but you can pick up the momentum that will make that meaningful difference!

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and love working with individuals and couples. I believe that everyone desires connection and wants to be heard. I also believe actually receiving it and having a desire are vastly different. Most of us find the "one," then life happens, careers kick off, kids, and before we know it the connection has been lost. We feel stuck, lost, and like it's impossible to get it back to that feeling. My job is to help you to identify those stuck places and develop new experiences that propel you forward in the relationship and better equip you when similar feelings of disconnection arise.

Finding a good match is essential to successful therapy. I connect with clients by listening and exploring without judgement. Clients have told me they appreciate my compassion, finding it easy to talk with me about difficult issues. I have a reputation as someone who helps parents- especially with ADHD, school struggles, blended-family dynamics, and communication. Therapy is a process of self-discovery where you learn why you do what you do, as well as how to change behaviors. Many hide their authentic self, conforming to the expectations of others. This process can assist you in becoming acquainted with your best self.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
