Pregnancy and the related milestones are so celebrated around you that it’s hard for you to talk to anyone about the emotional pain you are in.
I will help you to process the unique emotional and physical challenges of pregnancy and early motherhood, especially those that come after past loss or with past trauma. As you move beyond rage, loss and fear, I will help you to identify your strengths and vision for motherhood and build confidence in caring for yourself and your baby.

Anxiety can leave you overthinking conversations, questioning your role in relationships, or feeling unsettled during life transitions. I hold a Master’s in Counseling (MC) from Palo Alto University (2021), and my path into this field began with my own desire to better understand myself and the dynamics of relationships through personal therapy. That experience inspired a genuine commitment to sit with adults (18+) in vulnerable moments, and I remain continually inspired by clients and colleagues as I deepen the care I provide.

Something feels off and you can't quite name it. Maybe it's the anxiety that shows up without warning, tightening your chest before you even know why. Or the nagging sense that you're going through the motions, disconnected from yourself and the life you thought you'd be living by now. You might recognize the patterns: the self-doubt, the self-sabotage, the same loops playing out no matter how hard you try to break free. And you wonder why knowing about them isn't enough to change them. You're not broken. But you may be carrying more than you've had real support to process.

Trauma can leave you feeling constantly on guard, disconnected from yourself or others, or caught in patterns that are hard to name. You may notice parts of you shutting down, taking over, or feeling far away, especially if you’ve lived through complex or ongoing trauma. I earned my MS from California State University, Northridge in 2011, and my clinical focus has centered on understanding how trauma shapes the nervous system, identity, and sense of safety. I help adults navigating C-PTSD, PTSD, and dissociation begin to make sense of their internal experiences and reconnect with a steadier sense of self.

My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and affirming of LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, perinatal, and polyamorous experiences.
You’re the one everyone depends on. The helper, the fixer, the person who keeps things moving even when you’re running on empty. From the outside, you seem capable, but underneath the constant doing, you may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of what you need anymore. Maybe you’ve spent so much time caring for others that you’ve lost touch with yourself. You long for rest without guilt, relationships where you can show up authentically, and space to exist without constantly performing. Therapy can help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been waiting for attention.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
