I'm skilled at treating clients with multiple, co-occurring problems- for example, someone struggling with depression, anxiety,
insomnia
, and binge eating.
I take a cognitive-behavioral approach to helping clients. Within that framework, I've trained in traditional CBT for a variety of problems, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), mindfulness-based treatments, trauma-focused treatments (Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy), and treatment for chronic depression (CBASP). Using this knowledge, I can create a treatment plan that fits your needs and goals. I specialize in mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders, trauma,
insomnia
, and psychosis.

CHT
Areas of Hypnotherapy and Life Coaching include: Addictions, Success & Goal Achievement, Emotional Balancing, Relationships, Fears & Phobias, Self-Confidence/Self-Esteem/Self-Love,
Insomnia
, Smoking Cessation, Body Image, Weight Management, Stress, Anxiety & Panic Attacks, Personal Breakthroughs.
While 'regular therapy' focuses on the past and the emotional wounds that come with it, coaching focuses on goal setting and taking action, understanding our present and finding ways to create a brighter future. It's about changing old habits, developing new ones, embracing change and moving with ease towards a more fulfilling life. Hypnosis is a relaxed state, where the mind is more receptive to certain ideas. Combining life coaching with hypnotherapy brings about the most positive changes, engaging both, the conscious and subconscious minds, empowering people to achieve lasting results and enhanced mental / emotional attitudes.

My practice focuses on helping individuals, couples, and families who are suffering from emotional or physical pain or the aftereffects of trauma. We help them resolve the traumatic experience, as well as its consequences (e.g. physical pain, stress, disability, depression, anxiety,
insomnia
, medication dependence, isolation, etc.) Although many of our patients have not responded well to prior therapies, we've had outstanding success in helping them move from feeling a severe loss to finding a new and positive beginning. We love to work with people who are ready to change and eager to learn how to do it.

Welcome to Accelerated Psychology. I created this practice to offer cutting edge psychotherapies and neuoscientific treatments in a warm and compassionate environment. Integrating neuroscientific and psychotherapeutic treatments is often the most effective path to psychological healing and growth, because the two approaches work synergistically to create a brain state that is most receptive to treatment. For over 25 years, I have specialized in helping those who suffer from mild or severe anxiety, depression,
sleep
disturbances, ADHD, or post-traumatic stress, and helping survivors and witnesses of terror from around the world.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
