Our
sexuality
is at the core of who we are as humans, and where we came from – it is our life force. It’s also at the core of our own identity. So many of us are searching for who we truly are. We’re so encapsulated in who we should be being for others, that we end up losing ourselves. This shows up most frequently in intimate relationships. Our desire for unconditional love from another supersedes our need for physical connection. Emotion trumps
sexuality
. And what goes on within our mind shuts down the abilities of our body. Are you feeling lost in your relationship? Do you desire more sexually?

Therapy will address your
sexuality
, and work to identify and inspect the issues you face.
The longest relationship you’ve ever had is the one you have with yourself. Understanding who you are to your core is life’s greatest adventure. Identity and expression of that identity is what makes you, YOU.
Many people have never had the chance to dissect their desires and learn about their authentic selves. You may not be happy with the way you feel about your body, your gender or identity expression, or maybe you feel inexperienced and nervous about the topic of
sexuality
; There is room for all of these feelings to be explored.
Sexuality
is a spectrum, and all of the colors of the wheel are welcome and deserve therapy.

I have maintained a private practice in Beverly Hills or West Hollywood for 30 years, and I have been an Associate Clinical Professor in the UCLA Psychology Department. I have found it helpful to be eclectic in my theoretical orientation, depending upon the personality of the client, the issues being discussed, and the client's own history of what has and has not been helpful. I integrate cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and humanistic elements in my approach to each client, always attempting to provide a safe and respectful environment in which clients can grow.

I use humor, empathy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help people struggling with issues ranging from anxiety and depression to trauma, co-dependency and
sex
& love addiction / compulsivity.
I help individuals and couples clarify and strengthen their relationship goals. Learning how to build more satisfying relationships leads to lasting change and empowerment. Old, less helpful ways of thinking are replaced with new, more realistic ideas of self-acceptance and how to rely on others. The result is a clearer picture of one's strengths, limitations, and belonging in the world.

Are relationships supposed to be this hard? When sexual issues keep you from maintaining or obtaining a happy relationship it's time to see a
sex
therapist. As a
sex
& relationship specialist, I successfully treat people with issues surrounding sexual desire & performance, sexual trauma, problems with arousal or orgasm, differences in the amount of
sex
they'd like to have, & sexual pain disorders such as vaginismus. I assist clients in building intimacy by deepening their mutual understanding & compassion (for their often very opposite mate!) and help them stay accountable for taking positive action to improve relationships.

Sex Therapy
Who is sex therapy for?
Sex problems are common in relationships. Many people want a better sex life and want to feel loved and desired by their partner. It is difficult for couples to resolve sexual problems on their own because people often feel ashamed to talk about their sexual desires fearing they are not normal, when in fact a very broad range of preferences and behaviors are normal. A sex therapist can help clarify this and other matters.
Why do people need sex therapy?
Many people do not know how to talk about their erotic needs or their emotional needs, both of which are addressed in sex therapy. Couples often live with sexual difficulties for years before seeking help, and in that time, partners may experience so much disappointment and alienation that they may fear their problems mean they are incompatible. Once people experience disappointment, it is difficult to find resolution without help.
What happens in sex therapy?
People have many misconceptions about what takes place in sex therapy. First, it is a form of talk therapy in which partners discuss their sexual concerns; it does not involve touching or physical exploration of any kind. Sex therapy typically helps couples get comfortable talking to each other about sex so that, in the privacy of their home life, they can openly discuss their sexual desires and make decisions about what they want to do. Couples are typically assigned activities to do at home that build intimacy skills.
What kinds of problems do sex therapists treat?
Very often, partners differ in their degree of sexual desire and struggle over how often to have sex. Or they may have fights about porn use or have difficulty connecting sexually after one partner is unfaithful. Men may have problems with premature ejaculation. Women may find themselves struggling to become aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Sometimes partners feel like they have lost the sense of attraction to their partner. These are all common issues dealt with in sex therapy.
