Relationships are one of the most meaningful and rewarding elements of our lives. Whether it’s a relationship with a spouse, partner, friends, a parent or child, a relationship to work or money, or the relationship you have with yourself-- relationships affect us every minute of every day. But, the ability to cultivate them into healthy and loving creations is not innate. Most of us have experienced the pain that comes when relationships are toxic and unfulfilled. This pain comes in many forms: anxiety, sadness, guilt or shame, low self-esteem, loneliness, financial problems, addiction, etc. But, it doesn’t have to be that way.

While 'regular therapy' focuses on the past and the emotional wounds that come with it, coaching focuses on goal setting and taking action, understanding our present and finding ways to create a brighter future. It's about changing old habits, developing new ones, embracing change and moving with ease towards a more fulfilling life. Hypnosis is a relaxed state, where the mind is more receptive to certain ideas. Combining life coaching with hypnotherapy brings about the most positive changes, engaging both, the conscious and subconscious minds, empowering people to achieve lasting results and enhanced mental / emotional attitudes.

Do you often find yourself agreeing to things you don’t like or don't want to do? Have you had enough of being overly accommodating in order to please others at the cost of your own wellbeing, without much of a return? Isn't it time to break this endless cycle and stop pleasing everyone but yourself? I’m here to help. As your psychologist, I’ll provide you with a safe judgment-free space to be vulnerable, where we can discuss your situation and examine your habits that are making it hard for you to stop pleasing others. Therapy can be life-changing. I know, because it saved my life. In private practice 26 years, I specialize in helping highly sensitive, intelligent, creative people who, counterintuitively by virtue of their gifts, can find life more challenging than most. Without a solid emotional foundation these gifts can lead to deep feelings of insecurity - personally and professionally. By using both traditional and cutting-edge tools, we'll eliminate your self-limiting beliefs and neutralize your negative conditioning. This rewarding process will be both enlightening and enjoyable, and will completely transform your day-to-day experience.

I believe in human resiliency. I have witnessed profound healing, strength and transformation occur in people's lives through the process of psychotherapy. Within the context of a therapeutic relationship, awareness, learning and healing can occur. Feeling stuck, insecure, depressed or anxious? Stuck in a cycle of self-sabotage or unhealthy coping skills? Therapy can uncover your blind spots and help you develop emotional intelligence to face life's challenges with new perspectives. I support individuals by expanding their awareness, building compassionate self-acceptance, and creating aligned action to live their preferred lives.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
