A therapeutic
relationship
is based on unbiased & nonjudgemental principles that allow for an individual to express his/her truth without conviction.
In the age of social media and emerging technology, we can sometimes hide behind a mask of how we envision ourselves. It is often difficult to just "be". A reoccurring conversation ensues within ourselves asking defining questions. Does anyone truly know me? Does anyone love me? Who am I? Will I ever reach my potential? Will society accept me? Am I pretty? Am I handsome? Ending with the culmination of all questions "Am I enough?", a general yet profound question. I believe that sustaining a healthy connection with at least one person can be life changing.

Relationships are one of the most meaningful and rewarding elements of our lives. Whether it’s a
relationship
with a
spouse
,
partner
, friends, a parent or child, a
relationship
to work or money, or the
relationship
you have with yourself-- relationships affect us every minute of every day. But, the ability to cultivate them into healthy and loving creations is not innate. Most of us have experienced the pain that comes when relationships are toxic and unfulfilled. This pain comes in many forms: anxiety, sadness, guilt or shame, low self-esteem, loneliness, financial problems, addiction, etc. But, it doesn’t have to be that way.

You can indeed change your feelings and behaviors, even if that change has seemed unachievable in the past. Perhaps you've already tried to address your concerns on your own. Maybe progress was more difficult than you thought or it proved to be short-lived. If you're ready for change, my goal is to help you move forward toward the life you want to live. I specialize in optimizing peer, romantic, and family relationships; reducing or eliminating substance use and addictive behaviors; and breaking unhelpful patterns around sex, dating, and technology. I welcome and respect all
relationship
styles and addiction goals.

I use an individualized,
relationship
-based approach.
One of the most important things I can offer you as a therapist is a safe, honest, & collaborative experience. It all starts with our ability to be with each other authentically. If you feel seen & understood, then we can get to the sadness, anxiety, anger, loneliness, trauma and conflict. Every psychotherapist has a master's level education & goes through thousands of hours in supervised training. What makes the therapy process healing is the partnership - how we work together through the hard stuff. (Our fit.) Think of me as a guide that's with you to look at your unique lived experiences and to help you feel well.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
