Relationships are one of the most meaningful and rewarding elements of our lives. Whether it’s a relationship with a spouse, partner, friends, a parent or
child
, a relationship to work or money, or the relationship you have with yourself-- relationships affect us every minute of every day. But, the ability to cultivate them into healthy and loving creations is not innate. Most of us have experienced the pain that comes when relationships are toxic and unfulfilled. This pain comes in many forms: anxiety, sadness, guilt or shame, low self-esteem, loneliness, financial problems, addiction, etc. But, it doesn’t have to be that way.

You don’t have to suffer alone and you can grow into the person you were meant to be. Let’s get to the truth of who you are and what you want in a professional, safe, and supportive environment.

Particularly working with
children
and their families in order to restore family hierarchy and hope as well as young adults finding their path and older adults struggling with depression and anxiety.
Finding the right therapist is no different than finding the perfect trainer, dentist or other health care professional. . As a parent, you may be "stuck" in how to help or connect with your
child
. Other times you may be overwhelmed with managing your own life and emotions. As a young adult and/or older adult you may want to work on strategies to improve your outlook on life. My passion as a psychologist is helping others overcome their personal struggles in order to live a more fulfilling life. This is probably the most difficult, yet important step you have taken.

Adults who were molested as
children
often suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression and difficulties in relationships with others.
What I do is help clients identify and understand thoughts and beliefs they have that keep them from feeling good about themselves and get in the way of living life to its fullest. Each individual has a unique view of the world and relationships etched out of our early experience. If those experiences are good enough, then one is able to meet life's challenges, but if these experiences are wrought with dysfunction and trauma, meeting these challenges is much more difficult and one may require assistance from a professional who can safely facilitate exploration of the obstacles to fulfillment.

Child Therapists
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
