You're the man or woman who helps everyone - but who helps you? Maybe you think you "should" be able to cope, yet you find yourself feeling angry and unheard? For 30+ years, I've been helping individuals, professionals, and families communicate more effectively, to reduce the
anger
, stress, and conflict life hands all of us at times. If those old coping skills aren't working, you might be struggling alone to make sense of your feelings and behaviors. I know that alone can be lonely; your personal and professional relationships may suffer, as you try to cope with the mounting stresses that come from not getting your needs met.

It's difficult to be in this world. You want to be considerate and kind; you also want to fulfill your potential. Were you were raised with a lot of "shoulds"? Were you told to control or ignore your feelings? Are there issues with
anger
? Yours or
anger
from loved ones?
Anger
can lead to feelings of shame. But finding the feelings beneath the
anger
, you can accept and love yourself. And that can change your life.

Traumatic events causes one to develop negative beliefs about oneself or the world. These experiences become fixed in the body-mind in form of negative emotions causing
anger
, depression, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, panic, anxiety, phobias, shame, low self-esteem which can create difficulties with your relationships at home and at work. I use EMDR to heal the deep wounds of traumatic childhood events which are the source that one may believe that he/she is not a good enough person, not loveable, does not deserve to be loved or trusted. Negative self beliefs and negative emotions effects our body and mind causing physical and emotional distress.

It takes courage to begin therapy. Feeling stuck, depressed or anxious, looking for clarity on how to move forward? My relational, psychodynamic approach helps us to connect empathically with your deeper needs, hopes and concerns. I encourage clients to build on their inherent strengths & acknowledge ways they may be impeding their own progress. My hope is to help you understand why you encounter the same kinds of frustrating roadblocks, and how you might make greater room in your life for more satisfying outcomes; while increased self-awareness doesn't guarantee change. it can open the door to new real & unimagined possibilities.

Congratulations on taking the FIRST courageous step toward dealing with your PAIN that is no longer working for you; or perhaps you like to grow and learn more about yourself; or you want to achieve HEALING from grief/loss related to major life changes. Painful symptoms related to trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, or relational issues are tough to tackle by yourself. How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
