If you are reaching out for your
teen
or young child, let’s collaborate and work together to help your child reach their fullest emotional and intellectual abilities so they, too, can grow and be the person you want them to be and the person they are meant to be.
You are many things to the people in your life. You are a spouse/partner, parent, child, friend, and working professional. Who are you to yourself? Are you your harshest critic? You don’t have to be. You don’t have to be anxious, worried, unhappy, sad, depressed, lonely, or overwhelmed. You can take time for yourself without guilt. You don’t have to suffer alone and you can grow into the person you were meant to be. Let’s get to the truth of who you are and what you want in a professional, safe, and supportive environment.

I work with relationship struggles, pre-marital counseling, individuals struggling with divorce, children and
adolescent
issues, low self esteem, and dating.
When you are feeling depressed or anxious, you have a real reason to want to be heard. You communicate through words and body language. A child communicates through play and art. Whichever way you communicate, I am dedicated to hear what you have to say and gain a real understanding of what is going on. Together, we can explore your uniqueness and find strength in that. Whether it is a family issue or a personal one, taking care of yourself is a priority. I believe that the basic foundation of therapy is a good relationship between therapist and client.

Issues range from coping with our current crisis to relationship and career stresses,
teen
struggles, grief, substance and pornography addiction.
Our world's been shaken up in ways we've never imagined. We're understandably anxious, trying to cope. Jobs, family, illness. How do we hold it together? Are you looking for someone to talk to who can walk through this labyrinth with you? I specialize in trauma, perhaps I can help. You may be having problems with your partner, kids or parents-- most significantly with yourself. If your pain is manifesting as panic attacks or addictions, if there's grief or you're in parent/child conflicts at any age, therapy may help. I work with individuals and couples to enhance communication, creativity and a core sense of self.

You want to live your adult life as an adult. Many of us struggle within the familiar loops that were set up with our best intentions, except often the parts of us in play formed in our childhood or adolescence. Do you want the
adolescent
you to be at the helm of your life or the adult you? With over 18 years in practice, I have come to realize that the journey one embarks on when entering therapy is an exceedingly personal and honorable one. As such, I work very hard to be fully engaged in each and every session to help you realign with the best in you as you navigate your life.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
