Some of the theories and tools I draw from include Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness practices, Hakomi Body-Oriented Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and
EMDR
to name a few.
Do you find yourself getting stuck in old thoughts and feelings that create challenges in your relationships or career? Would you to feel present, clear and peaceful? It takes courage to go to therapy and work on issues that challenge you. Rather than giving you advice, we would look at how you're putting your experiences together, and how those create repeating patterns in your life; this is with the hope of getting enough information, willingness, and inspiration to try out new options and develop new patterns that are in greater alignment with your authentic self.

I also utilize
EMDR
and cognitive behavioral therapy to re-configure a "problem" into a "solution.
As a psychologist, I provide a bridge between traditional psychotherapy and alternative modalities, in a highly individualized approach.Hypnotherapy integrated with psychotherapy can effectively reduce stress and anxiety, while resolving issues of relationships, career, health, or self-development. Hypnosis is a natural way to empower you to "change your brain." Release negative beliefs, shift self-defeating habits to life enhancing ones, discover your "source self" and utilize creative inner resources that you may not even be aware you have.

I am trained in
EMDR
, and use this approach frequently to help clients dealing with the aftereffects of trauma.
Psychotherapy is an opportunity for you to explore your experience in a space that is nonjudgmental, open, and supportive, and through this to discover more ease, as well as solutions to the challenges you are facing. It is a chance for you to look at thoughts, emotions, and conditioned responses to life and life events; untangle the knots of old beliefs and patterns that are no longer helpful; and take action to live a freer, more satisfying, and more authentic life. My approach is collaborative and experiential, and makes use of your already-existing strengths.

For that reason I have incorporated
EMDR
into my treatment.
In my psychotherapy practice I create a space where you can feel comfortable and safe expressing emotions and exploring difficult issues. With compassion and mindfulness I listen to what you say through your words and what you say when there are no words. Together we will decide on the treatment modality that is best for you.
I have tended to specialize in two main areas: trauma and relationship issues. My background in psychodynamic therapy offers a strong foundation for understanding behavior and the way we unintentionally get trapped in patterns.

I use cognitive behavioral methods, somatic awareness,
EMDR
, and schema awareness to help change reactions and understand and tolerate your inner world.
There are usually two types of reasons people come into therapy. One is that find themselves making the same mistakes over and over again and they want to do something different, but are just not sure how. The other is that they have been carrying around a deep pain in their life that they want to resolve. Often these things are connected. This is why I work with you on two levels. I help you change the current unwanted behavior, while also helping you resolve issues from your past that may be effecting your reactions.

I'm
EMDR
and Hakomi certified, utilize evidenced based practices, parts work, expressive arts, & am relational in my approach.
If you are ready to slow down, look at the nuances of your inner workings, and rewire the circuitry perpetuating your pain I'd love to help you. We all have patterns of self preservation, and there comes a time when the choice to dismantle our patterns is no longer a choice. It's so beautiful when we can listen to the whispers, before the universe screams at us. Whatever the volume I am here, and am ready to walk down the path with you. I love working collaboratively with self reflective clients to address & heal trauma, anxiety, and depression with a mindful, relational and somatic approach that addresses the root of the issue.

I am
EMDR
trained and utilize a variety of therapies including Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Sometimes we get stuck, in our own heads, in unhelpful behavior, or as a couple. We strive for change but soon fall back into old habits, patterns, arguments or results. "It will be different this time, once again starts looking frustratingly familiar, but only with added dissappointment and sense of repeated failure. To some this may feel terrifying, to others hopeless. Whether you feel exhausted from worrying or trying to please others, or angry and frustrated with the situation, there is help. Toegther we can shift away from bandaid approaches with the goal of root-level healing and change.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
