At different times my clients will benefit from cognitive, mindfulness, body-based, as well as more traditional "talk therapy." Although good therapy is not easy, it should move you deeply and feel right.

Usually, a person is compelled to seek-out a therapist because of desperation: Desperation to extricate her/himself from depression, anxiety and or behaviors that contribute to conflict, or loneliness.
Let's talk about couple therapy: I am a relationship person. I am kind, and you will feel safe with me. We will identify the interactional patterns that lead to frustration, anger and isolation. In doing so, we will identify ways to improve communication, and most importantly, to increase your capacity to be understood, and understand your partner.

I have worked with trauma, anxiety and addictive disorders since 2005.
I created Brave Counseling & Consulting after my own extensive trauma work led me to a profound realization — I had spent my entire life fawning for the benefit of others, at the cost of myself. Through that process, I found something I hadn't expected: freedom.
Our deepest mission at Brave Counseling is to help you come home — to your body, your mind, and your spirit. The wholeness you're looking for has always been yours. It's simply been waiting beneath the weight of what happened to you.
You are not broken. You are brave.

I am an LCSW based in the Bay Area who offers compassionate psychotherapy and counseling to people coping with loss, grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
Navigating loss is one of the most profound challenges we face and it can feel overwhelming and isolating. I believe that grief is not something to be "fixed" or hurried through, but rather a normal, powerful human response that needs space, patience, and guidance.

From the outside you look like you have it all together, but deep down you feel like you are crumbling.
Your mind struggles to slow down. Maybe you find yourself overthinking, replaying conversations from the day, or second-guessing decisions you have made. You’re exhausted.
My approach is warm, relational, and honest. I work primarily from a psychodynamic lens, which means we look at what’s underneath — the patterns, the old stories, the ways your past is quietly shaping your present. I also draw on CBT, mindfulness, and trauma-focused approaches depending on what you need.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
