My mission is to empower those that I work with to have meaningful connections to themselves and the world around them.I specialize in supporting individuals,
couples
and families who are in transition - specifically, if a family member is in treatment or struggling with abuse, trauma, eating disorders or chemical dependency. It is very important to me that I respect my clients' philosophies, values and goals in therapy. As I work with a family, I'm sensitive to the experience of being invited in and I only offer solutions that fit within the family culture.

I am most helpful to mid-life women (and their partners when that's appropriate). I help them pick a good
partner
, create sound relationships, take good care of themselves and ultimately get more of what feeds their soul. I believe it begins with a solid understanding of oneself, how you experience your life, and then re-forming your relationships to be more satisfying.

Are you a man in crisis? I work with individuals and
couples
and specialize in men's counseling. Men tend to experience certain issues more than others such as anger management, substance abuse, impulse control problems and problems with intimacy. Men in our society are expected not to express their feelings but to deal with issues in a rational or logical way and are taught that being vulnerable is a bad thing. When emotions are not handled in a healthy manner or denied, other behaviors can manifest such as addictions, compulsions and avoidance. utilizing addictions and compulsions

I have a passion for individual who struggles to find their place in family, community,
relationship
, boundaries, and sense of self.
Starting therapy is difficult and scary; however, you do not have to do it yourself. I understand it is also vulnerable to share your stories with a stranger. Therapy is a space where you can feel safe being yourself. With sincerity, I strive to build that safe environment for you and work collaboratively to find yourself. I also understand being in a
relationship
and, or keeping a
relationship
might be difficult and tiring. I can work together with your
partner
to help you both understand each other in a deeper connection and learn to communicate better.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
