My ideal client struggles with low self-esteem, self-doubt, and negative self-talk, often rooted in past experiences. These internal blocks keep them from reaching their potential in personal, professional, or creative areas. They deeply desire to feel empowered, build confidence, and take meaningful action toward their goals. They seek support to overcome limiting beliefs, develop resilience, and create a life they feel proud of—one where they trust themselves and feel in control.

Many people struggling with compulsive sexual behavior feel trapped in secrecy, shame, and isolation. You may fear being “found out” while also feeling unable to stop behaviors that are hurting you or your relationships. Or perhaps you are the partner of someone struggling with sexual addiction and feel betrayed, angry, or confused. You are not alone, and healing is possible. As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), I help individuals and couples understand the deeper emotional pain that often drives these behaviors, including trauma, loneliness, anxiety, and shame.

My therapeutic approach is working with strengths-based and problem-solving techniques, but it really depends on the situation the client is working with. My focus is broad I enjoy working with teenagers to the elderly. I enjoy listening to the stories and looking at the faces of the people I'm working with. Congratulations, you found a compassionate and affirming therapist. As you're reading this I understand it maybe with some degree of ambivalence. To that end, my immediate goal is to connect and reflect with you in ways that are safe, respectful and trusting. Only then can we have a meaningful, therapeutic-relationship that's open to collaboration, exploration, and revelation. This is where we "Make the road as we walk it", and I champion your journey, where ever it leads. I value the creative and growth potential of every human being. How can I best support you?

When life feels overwhelming, persistent worry, anxiety, anger, and sadness can rise up and begin to interfere with your relationships, sleep patterns, eating habits, and overall health. Life doesn’t always unfold the way we imagined it would. We find ourselves stuck in patterns we don’t fully understand or carrying emotional weight we haven’t quite known how to name. In my experience, therapy is one of the most courageous and meaningful steps a person can take when they begin to feel overwhelmed, alone, or simply unsure of where to go next.

My therapeutic style is eclectic, meaning I can pull from a variety of modalities for identifying and treating trauma and its effects, on both the individual, and the family unit. Building rapport is essential because we tend to do our best when we are having fun. I utilize a personal and individual approach to therapy focusing on determining “cause” behind each client’s distress. I also provide group counseling for Anger Management, Domestic Violence and victims, Parenting, Anxiety, Depression, and a group specifically for Church Pastors affected by secondary trauma.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and although I have been trained in the Rogerian model (interchangeable empathy), I have found that not all clients respond to this model. In my practice, I believe the slogan, "one size fits all" is a misnomer...one size fits one (is my belief). I believe in using a therapeutic model (or models) that will help bring about change and growth for my client. I have found this type of flexibility allows the client to become a better, healthier, and more productive version of themself.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
