As Psychologists, and Marriage & Family Therapists, we treat hundreds of patients and understand the intricacies of various psychological issues that people face. Combining traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Coaching, we have successfully treated patients with Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Behavioral Issues,
Relationship
Issues, ADHD, and a host of other issues. Unlike traditional therapy that relies heavily on the past and understanding why you do what you do, Cornell Counseling and Behavioral Health is focused on helping you with the tools to move forward and create change. We have a more collaborative and goal-oriented approach to treatment.

My specialty is in working with clients who have the desire to increase confidence, reduce anxiety, manage life transitions, and work through dating and
relationship
issues.
As a clinical social worker and life coach, I meet my clients where they are, and we work together to identify triggers, false narratives, and limiting beliefs that can hold you back and leave you feeling stuck. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness-based techniques, combined with the ability to identify barriers that prevent clients from evolving and reaching their goals, I’ve provided clients with the practical and transformational tools needed to create lasting change.

I specialize in providing
couples

I provide you with the tools to create a better, stronger and a more fun marriage! I am solution focuses and goal driven, giving you the results you need now not over years of therapy. Traditional
couples counseling
focuses way too much on re-hashing conflict, and not enough on the tools to navigate conflict.

Over the years my work has been dedicated to assisting individuals,
couples
, and families to identify, understand, and modify the impact of these high stress levels.
Life sometimes throws us a curve ball. Daily life struggles and stress that we have normally handled with relative ease can suddenly seem overwhelming. Too much stress and the inability to handle it properly can begin to undermine our potential to enjoy our work and to care for ourselves and others. Finances, parenting, relationships, school, care taking, health concerns, and loss can be stressful aspects of life. When we begin to internalize these external stressors it can lead to depression, anxiety, anger, addiction, poor health, phsysical/emotional exhaustion and
relationship
problems.

My goal as a therapist is to assist you on your journey of self-awareness and personal discovery. I like to take a here-and-now approach during therapy and I also believe that understanding your present and being able to be fully aware of your thoughts and actions in the moment will help unlock and uncover unresolved issues from your past. I strongly believe in the concept of subjective reality. I enjoy working with a wide variety of clientele and have a special interest in working with adolescent and young adult females, and individuals and
couples
in areas of sexual intimacy.

I work with individuals,

Life brings painful experiences that can pull us away from becoming who we were intended to be. Whatever the source of your pain, there is grace, comfort, and healing for you. I believe in the power of the therapeutic
relationship
to heal, and in the courage of my clients as they pursue wholeness. I am passionate about creating a safe space for my clients to explore the problems that keep them from being intimately connected with themselves and the people they love. I use a whole person approach; trying to be attentive to the synergy of body, mind, and spirit in the client's experience.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
