I am passionate about child development and have specialty in working with numerous childhood disorders presenting in early childhood (5 years-old) and onto adulthood,
trauma
disorders, challenges to family functioning such as intergenerational difficulties and parent-child relationship problems.
I strive to facilitate a dialogue that both empowers and engages clients in their own self-healing, valuing the co-creation of a transformative narrative and experience. As a licensed clinical psychologist, experienced in treating both children and adults, I view emotional and behavioral challenges as a dynamic outcome that develops as a result of complex interactions across time, as opposed to something inherently "broken" inside an individual.

As a Multiracial, Black, Queer, Differently-Abled Woman, I hold a strong relational and cultural lens in my practice. I view behaviors and
trauma
through the foundation of who you are; in relationship to one's self and others. Identity and culture impact how we walk through the world, and how we heal through it. I also hold a strong lens for tapping into your inner child, healing childhood wounds and pains. What unmet childhood need is blocking your healing? Let's explore, and reclaim your sense of safety and joy together.

Does your child/teen need help connecting to themselves and others in healthy ways? Do they need to heal
trauma
/exposure to conflict/violence? Do they need improved emotional regulation skills? Boundaries? To replace self-harm with self-nurture. I work with children and teens to help them heal, grieve, and grow. My focus is on helping children and teens develop a healthy sense of self and to experience their power cooperatively. Sometimes, I work with parents to help them heal their own childhood
trauma
and be emotionally available to their children. Other times, I work with families to uncover and change dysfunctional patterns.

I have extensive experience working with those managing depression, anxiety, stress, and
trauma
, along with relationship and attachment issues, intimacy related issues, coping with life changes, mood instability, negative self-talk and self-esteem, personal growth, and addressing irrational beliefs.
We all have our own stories that are filled with our experiences, strengths, and challenges, and we move at our own pace and time. We have many layers that, while exciting to uncover, can also trigger fear and worry. Self-discovery can be an empowering journey, one of understanding and acceptance, self-love, and fulfillment. You are the expert of your own life, and I am here to offer support, care, guidance, and courage along the way. I believe in collaboration, and will work with you to address the issues presented in therapy and develop treatment goals. Together we will make the space to create the life you want.

And I can help you free yourself from shame,
trauma
, limiting beliefs and destructive patterns, for a life that is authentic, meaningful and unmistakably yours.
Live your truth. Follow your bliss. Do you. Sounds simple, right? Except that, all too often, we convince ourselves that who we are is not enough, that what we want is undeserved. So we stifle our talents, ignore our truth and deny our deepest desires. Before we know it, we’re living someone else’s life, satisfying everyone’s expectations but our own. All to earn the love and acceptance we don’t feel worthy of otherwise. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

trauma
focused care, with a particular emphasis on complex
Post-traumatic Stress
Disorder, anxiety, and mood challenges.
You're stuck. You know things aren't working out the way you want, but you don't know exactly what's wrong. You keep trying harder using the tools you have, taking advice you get from friends, and inspirational messages from social media, but something isn't quite adding up. It's not your fault. There is nothing wrong with you. But maybe there is a problem with how you are approaching these challenges. You might be struggling with anxiety, depression, or stress based issues that have you feeling like you are barely treading water. You want to feel better, function better, and be better. You can, and I can help.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
