I am a clinical psychologist licensed in New Jersey, Ohio, Maryland, and Virginia. Over the past 20 years I have worked collaboratively with clients on a wide range of issues, and am comfortable utilizing a variety of techniques designed to help empower my clients and establish a greater sense of integrity within their lives. My training in psychotherapy has been influenced by a wide variety of philosophies and theories, and I am skilled in helping clients become more aware of deeper connections to their problems, whether it be in their relationships with others or in their relationship with themselves.

I am a psychoanalyst specializing in the phenomena of unconscious mental life. Patients are often referred to my practice after previous efforts have felt unhelpful, limited or kept one "stuck" in and out of therapy. My focus is both on the material functioning within awareness, and dynamics operating underneath our wish--and fears--to change. This substance generates felt and unfelt strife within all individuals, regardless of symptoms, situation or diagnosis. That is to say, there is invaluable MEANING and FUNCTION to any thought, feeling or behavior. We do not operate separately from our selves.

We use Virtual Reality (VR), yoga, play therapy, and mindfulness techniques to enhance treatments. We measure our results to help our clients get the most out of each session. I had my first position as a counselor when I was just 20 and the compassion that lived through me then continues 48 years later. While developing professionally I enrolled in a personal individual and group training analysis and had a deep and caring experience as a patient. I consider it an incredible responsibility to practice as an integrative healer as I believe the therapeutic relationship is a privilege between two people. I continue to cultivate my personal practice, evolving throughout my life with an open heart, and open mind. My mother, and father remain central influences in my practice as a psychologist/psychoanalyst.

In my professional work I have learned to empathize deeply and to make observations and interpretations based on years of accumulated clinical knowledge and experience. While my professional training has been invaluable, my clients (and my colleagues, too) have been the most extraordinary teachers of life and healing. Through my work I have learned to be more open and compassionate and more fully human. This enables me to be a more effective facilitator in the healing process of psychotherapy.
