Currently accepting new clients! My goal is to provide a safe space where you're able to freely explore and better understand what's getting in your way. I'm here to help you navigate at whichever pace feels most comfortable and will be there for every step of the journey. I work through a compassion-focused lens where you can feel safe, validated, and are able to build self-love from within. We focus on small, obtainable changes that can then lead to greater ones over time. Working with me is a time where you're able to feel safe of any judgment, expectations, and can really get in touch with what it is that you're needing.

Therapy is a deeply personal experience. There are many points of transition, uncertainty and challenge in each of our lives. In these times, it is common to feel overwhelmed and unsure. These challenges can be best navigated with the help of a trusted professional. It can be hard to ask for help but having the strength to reach out can often be the best step to take in working through many issues that we are confronted with. I would be honored to take your hand and provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can begin to work through the therapeutic process.

I provide a supportive non judgmental environment and after our first visit, you will most likely be feeling more empowered to work through any difficulties that you have. Feeling more empowered will lead to more hope that you are in control of shifting things in your life.

I help perfectionistic women and teenage girls conquer inner struggles that create and perpetuate unwanted, often debilitating, mental and emotional stresses. I specialize in treating anxiety, body image issues, unhelpful eating behaviors, and depression. Does your penchant for perfection interfere with your sense of self and/or rob your joy? Does criticism of yourself cloud your perception and/or erode your confidence? Does your need to be in control leave you drained and with little time or energy for anything else?

Working with me will be empowering, energetic, and at times fun. You will grieve losses, heal wounds, celebrate successes and reimagine your future. Together, we will explore childhood relationship programing and work on a reboot of early patterns that are no longer useful. I will help you choose healthier roles and boundaries, while building a life with you in the driver's seat. "For every event in life, there are many different angles. When you look at the same event from a wider perspective, your sense of worry and anxiety reduces, and you have greater joy." - The Dalai Lama

As a counselor specializing in supporting children, young adults, and women, being present with my clients is more important than using a specific technique. I blend a supportive client-centered approach with creativity and compassion, providing a warm, nurturing therapeutic environment. I will listen closely to understand your life and your world, drawing from many styles, including solution-focused, narrative, and cognitive therapy. I am an empathetic listener and insightful guide, asking questions to help identify goals and clear away confusion and past or current pain that may be blocking the release of self-defeating patterns.

Finding the right therapist can be a daunting process. There are a lot of people to choose from but connecting with the person who will be right for you is extremely important. In fact, research shows that the biggest predictor of successful therapy is the relationship that you have with your therapist. I am passionate about building a strong alliance with my clients, teaching them positive coping skills, and helping them to fully explore their current and past experiences to promote growth and bring about lasting change. I work from a person-centered perspective, which simply means that I take an empathetic, empowering approach.

When the passion of your relationship plateaus, what's next? When your relationship reaches milestones such as the birth or departure of children, are you struggling with the adjustment? How strong is the foundation of your friendship? Do you feel that your partner understands you in essential ways? Many couples imagine that conflict indicates relationship trouble especially when certain issues repeatedly surface with no forward movement. Research proves this need not be the case. Conflict in relationship is normal; it's how you manage conflict that matters. There are clear and learnable skills that will deepen your friendship and love.

Symptoms draw our attention to areas that need care. That is often where we start. What is bothering you and what might be underneath? Together, we can expand your understanding of what is troubling you and build on your innate resilience. Sometimes it is as simple as just being heard. But when it is not, shifting thoughts, words, and actions may provide relief and develop improved coping skills. (Heads up: sometimes it gets worse before it gets better) If you've had enough, if you are done avoiding or pointing fingers, if you are reading to make changes, then let's do this. Process groups available T & W.

You used to have fun, like real fun. I'm talking "living your best life" full of carefree adventure kind of fun. Nowadays, asking, "Should we get ice cream?" is about as wildly spontaneous as it gets. The years pass by, and responsibility stacks up. Life is good, but it feels like it could be better. You've become the ultimate multitasker, switching between mom duties and work demands, catering to everyone else's needs, and hoping your own desires will sneak into the mix. You want more. And less. I get it.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Sonoma?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
